Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

"Can you hand me the ginger?" Ronan asked, as he ground some spices with a mortar and pestle. "The fresh, I mean." The fragrant smells of cooking curry were already pervading the common room, and probably making their way through the rest of the dorms. When Isabel handed over the asked-for ginger, he added some to the mixture in the mortar, and went back to grinding. "Thanks. I hope this isn't too spicy for whoever else comes along," he added.

"MmmmmmmMMMMmmmm," Charlie said blissfully. "Well, cool. I don't think I could get married right out of high school. But it sounds kinda romantic."

"Considering I thought I was a few weeks ago? I can't say anything," Isabel shrugged. "But John and Aeryn? They just make sense."

"John and Aeryn-- oh, hey, wait, is this Radio John? The funny one?" Charlie grinned. "I can't imagine a guy like that getting married, somehow. Without balloon animals, or, I don't know. Clown cars?"

"That would be radio John, yes," she laughed. "As for balloon animals and clown cars? It's a possibility. Anything is a possibility, it's a wedding for Fandom people. They could have a gremlin as a ring bearer."

Charlie started giggling again. "Did you have fun? And are you in the wedding? I don't know anyone that's gotten married yet at all, come to think of it."

"We did. And yes, I am," Isabel nodded. "Next month. I don't, but I've got ten bucks that says my brother and his girlfriend wind up married in the next year or so."

"Really? That serious?" Charlie shook her head. "Wow. How long have they been going out?" Maybe that's the important part. After all, she's just known Rodney a couple months. Forget any ideas of marriage yet, they have to get... a lot more serious, before then.

"Max and Liz? Over two years. But they've got this whole soulmate thing going on," she shrugged. "And honestly, she's stood by him through stuff that would have made a lot of other people walk away. So maybe it is true love."

"Do you believe in that?" Charlie asked, looking hopeful. "True love? Soul mates? For real?"

"I don't know," Isabel said. She wasn't bitter or jealous of Max and Liz or Michael and Maria, she just couldn't imagine being that wrapped up in someone. "I guess I'm still waiting to find mine."

"Hunh. But still. Yay for your friends. I hope you have a good time there." Charlie took another bite of curry. "Where is the wedding?"
