Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

"Can you hand me the ginger?" Ronan asked, as he ground some spices with a mortar and pestle. "The fresh, I mean." The fragrant smells of cooking curry were already pervading the common room, and probably making their way through the rest of the dorms. When Isabel handed over the asked-for ginger, he added some to the mixture in the mortar, and went back to grinding. "Thanks. I hope this isn't too spicy for whoever else comes along," he added.

[OOC: Open, as common rooms are! Come have some curry. :D]

"This guy named Daniels showed up and told them how Fandom High was fantastic for someone with my special skills and that home-schooling would hinder my abilities to work with others," said Hoshi. She didn't know at the time that Daniels was actually a time-traveler who would later serve on her first starship.

"The phase rifle should definitely be able to blast through doors, depending on what they were made of. I think they use the tougher materials on the outer hull of the ship, so the interior bulkheads must be a lot weaker."

"Hunh. I guess if there are crowds on starships, he had a point," Charlie said. "So I guess it's good he was, what, on the school board for that?" She looked thoughtful as she messed with the curry. "Hmm, okay, so blast an 'interior bulkhead', get a glider? Maybe? They have some like that around here. And then ... ooo! Space station! I was going to put them on the surface of the planet, but a space station is way cooler." She cocked her head. "Would you want to serve on one of those?"

"I'm not sure what he was in relation to the school. He dropped me off at the end of the causeway, but when I got here, no one knew who he was," said Hoshi.

"Right now, where I come from, they're still trying to get their first deep space starship off the ground. I think in ten years or so, I'd like to be on one of those. More chances of meeting other aliens than on a stationary space station."

"Coolness!" Charlie was so taking mental notes. "A.J.'s illustrating the novel, so, if you want to see what he's drawn, just ask him. And... that's weird abut Daniels." She frowned. "But maybe it's a time travel thing? Maybe they just don't know him yet?" Talking to Ronan makes her think too much.

"I hadn't considered that before," said Hoshi. "It makes sense, though, since I'm from the future."

"Yay." Charlie grinned, feeling useful. "So are you dressing up for Halloween on Wednesday?"

[identity profile] itsjustlanguage.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
"I hadn't really planned on it," said Hoshi. "Halloween isn't such a big deal where I come from."

[identity profile] girlzippo.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmm. I wonder if there'll be a party, somewhere?" Charlie cocked her head. "It might be fun to dress up. I haven't done that for a couple years. The kids at Hastings Glen were more about egging windows and tipping cows on Halloween."

[identity profile] itsjustlanguage.livejournal.com 2007-10-30 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"There always seems to be a party going on around this place," said Hoshi. "And tipping cows? People actually do that?"

"Drunk people," Charlie admitted. "Drunk, stupid, football playing people, mostly. They tried it at my grandpa's place, and he drove them off with a shotgun. Some of them got busted for it last year and got booted from the team. It was pretty ridiculous."
