Fifth Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

"Can you hand me the ginger?" Ronan asked, as he ground some spices with a mortar and pestle. "The fresh, I mean." The fragrant smells of cooking curry were already pervading the common room, and probably making their way through the rest of the dorms. When Isabel handed over the asked-for ginger, he added some to the mixture in the mortar, and went back to grinding. "Thanks. I hope this isn't too spicy for whoever else comes along," he added.

If Johnny even for one second thought Isabel was psychic, he would totally be giving her good images and thoughts to sort through in his head. Yes. Nakedness might be involved too because hey, he was a teenage guy. I mean, come on.

"I've got this gorgeous belly dancer costume. Except I have a feeling I'm going to be rather cold wearing it. It's a bit on the skimpy side."

"Maybe we'll stop by then. You'll have candy for trick or treaters won't you?" she asked innocently.

"Of course I will," he said, catching the we'll. He thought Wyatt would make a cute Little Bo Peep. "What's he going as, or do you know?"

"I honestly don't know," Isabel admitted. "But I'm sure he'll look great."

Isabel? Smitten? No...not her.

"Oh be quiet and eat your dinner," she told him, still a light shade of pink.

Johnny ate his dinner and when he was finished, he leaned in to kiss her cheek. "Thanks, Isabel."

"Thank the cook," Isabel smiled, giving him a another hug, glad that things were back to normal. "I just helped a bit."

"Speaking of the cook," she said as she stepped back and glanced over towards Ronan. "Be careful with him okay?"

He glanced over at Ronan. "What do you mean?"

Isabel had seen Johnny and Ronan talking earlier, but she wasn't sure how much Ronan had said about what had happened to him and she wasn't sure she should say much to Johnny if he hadn't.

"Just be a friend okay?"

"Always," he said and wondered about his conversation with Ronan. "You shouldn't even have to question me where he is concerned, Isabel. You know how I feel..."

That was the thing, she did know how he felt. And she wasn't sure if Ronan was up to dealing with the added complication of whatever undercurrent was between them.

"I know. I'm just saying that...I've been where he is right now. And it's a lot easier to deal with if there aren't extra emotions and complications going on. Does that make sense?"

He nodded. Johnny got what she was saying and he looked down, shoving his hands in his pockets. "It makes sense."

"Good. Because the other thing I know is that friends are the best medicine." Isabel would forever be grateful for Jack, and Parker and Cedric for getting her through the time when she first got back.

"Honestly? That's what I'm here for Isabel and I want him to know that. No matter what -- I'm here. Same with you and I know you that. Yeah, I can be a smartass, I know that, but that's basically just the surface, seriously. Few people I let in, but those I do can always count on me."

Isabel didn't wibble. Much. She just hugged him again.

"I love you to Johnny."

He grinned and hugged her tight, lifting her feet up off the ground. "Always, sweetheart, always. Now I need to run and get back to my sick girlfriend. She needs to get better before tomorrow night," winking, he put her down and started for the door.
