Gym, Sunday Afternoon

Armed with a bottle of water and a towel, John had headed down to the gym for his daily workout. Just because he was on vacation didn't mean he could afford to slack off. Besides, he knew it would be a while before Rodney got himself together after their trip and maybe he'd see some old friends.

Like his room, the gym was just as he remembered it. As he ran laps, John wondered if the students here still had a flag football club.

Dawn lounged in the doorway for a few minutes, watching John work up a sweat, then let out a low wolf-whistle.

John turned and trotted over to the whistler, wishing he was better with names. "Hey there," he smiled.

Rikku gave the other woman a curious glance. She seemed familiar. And thus got a smile and a wave.

Seely made his way down to the gym, stretching as he headed for the punching bag.

"How many times have you failed to still be here?" Gavin called, smiling.

After finding Inara all older and fugitivey at her this morning, it was half curiosity and half hope for normality that brought Jaina down to the gym when she knew practice should have been happening.

John did a double-take, surprised to see how little Jaina had changed. "Wow," okay, so his social skills were still a little lacking.

After visiting Inara (and wow, that was kriffing weird), Gavin wandered down into the gym and was, again, surprised how much it hadn't changed.

Tired from the trip, he just took a spot in the bleachers to watch.

Taking a water break, John nodded a greeting toward Gavin. "Hey, think the old barbershop gang'll be playing down at Caritas," he teased.

At least Jaina had had warning for Gavin. Which was why she tossed off a formal salute when she saw him, wondering exactly when in the timeline he was from. And if she should be calling him by a different title.

Sam was giving himself a tour of the school, and was glad to see that the gym was still in one piece. He stood near the back, just watching everyone.

"If it isn't the tall defender of the Blue Team," John said, the old days of flag football on his mind.

There was a war on--not there ever hadn't been a war on--and Luke needed to stay in shape even on a brief vacation.

He trotted into the gym and grinned at the older, but still familiar, faces. "It's nice to see some of us haven't gotten bald and fat."

"This head of hair will never be stopped," John grinned at the familiar face.

"Not even you!" Dawn recognized the voice and walked quickly over to him, intending to give him a very strong hug. "You look good. I could probably get way more for you now."

And this was Jaina doing a double take, followed quickly by a mental check to ensure that no, her brain wasn't actually bleeding yet.

Peter walked into the gym with a cane and a limp. It was nice to see this place again, seeing it being used for an actual workout. He never used it much himself outside of hand-to-hand training with unpowered people, but still. It was nice. He took a seat on the bleachers and relaxed.

Rikku tilted her head at him and raised an eyebrow. "Peter? Although I guess with all the Peters we had, that's not much of a stretch. I might start calling people either Peter or John, just to improve my odds."

Jo headed to the gym, partly for old times sake, and partly because talking to Victor and not being allowed to shoot him made her want to hit things.

Sam spotted Jo and debated with himself for a minute before finally approaching her. "Hey," he said, nodding in greeting.

Dick went to the gym to see if it changed. He was surprised to see it looked exactly the same. He was pleased to see so many of his flag football buddies around.

John wondered if the blond was an old teammate. He smiled and nodded his head in greeting.

Aravis was sick of sitting still, because honestly, being seven months pregnant did not mean she needed to sit down all the time. And in fact sometimes it was more comfortable to walk. She wasn't missing her damn reunion just because she was having a baby.

So she waddled (though Aravis hated that term) down to the gym to see if it'd changed, and...immediately headed for the bleachers to have a little sit-down as she watched and tried to recognize her former classmates.

Amazing how quickly Seely found a reason to be near the bleachers.

Not that he was hovering or anything.

The gym! Rikku wondered if Deadpool was still here, still sparring with minions. She'd have to look for him. Maybe she could take him in a fight, by now.

Probably not, but a little optimism never hurt anyone. Especially not her. She waved cheerfully to the others in the room and debated: warm up, or catch up with old friends?

Well, she could warm up any time, really ...

Sokka wandered into the gym which seemed to be just FULL of people today. He looked around at people he may or may not have recognized with a big smile. "What, no flag football?"

Andros wanted to see what the gym was like after 20 years and so he came in hoping to be able to do some training.
