Fourth floor common room: Tuesday afternoon

Karal was mostly over his cold, and completely sick of his room. He knew it was Christmas today, not that he really knew what that involved, but there was one Karsite tradition he was quite sure would fit.

Hot spiced cider.

There was a pot of it mulling on the stove, smelling of cinnamon and spices and all things yummy and if it was a teeny bit alcoholic, it was only enough to warm.

Karal was curled up on the couch with a mug of cider, reading, while Altra sprawled across the back of it. With the dorms as quiet as they were, he wasn't sure if there was anyone left, but he'd made enough cider for anyone who might wander by.

"There was some hoppy animal thing, and then it just started growing. I have no idea," she explained, running a hand over the top of her head like she still wasn't used to it.

"It looks nice," she offered, trying to be helpful. "Are you pleased?"

"Well, it's not that I liked having no hair in the middle of the winter here, but given a choice between having to lug around seven feet of hair and letting it grow naturally, I think I'd have opted for the second thing," Jaina said, considering it. "I think my days of shorter showers are over, sorry."

"Seven feet? My goodness! I don't mind about the shower in the slightest. It's not like we have a water shortage here." She grinned. "Although this does hamper my as-yet-unperformed plan to begin your hat collection."

"Thank you. But it is still winter," she joked. "And hey, at least I didn't get bitten by anything. As Fandom weirdness goes, I got off easy."

"That's true." A thought occurred to her. "Do the Jedi not celebrate Christmas? I'd have thought you'd be with your family."

"It's not our holiday," she said, shaking her head. "I don't actually know anything about it other than what the TV commercials say. Not yours, either?"

She shook her head. "No. I was raised Buddhist, so this entire majority religion is a bit odd to me. To say nothing of the differences that have taken place in how it's observed over hundreds of years."

"The best thing about Fandom may be that there's always someone there to not get something right along with you," Jaina decided.

"If you're ever looking for someone not to get something, I'm very probably one to look for," she laughed, then made a face. "Or something that makes me sound a little more like I almost understand the world around me."

"I get it," Jaina said, smiling. "We can be like our own little club."

"Do we get some kind of guide?"

"Probably not. But people might know to explain things better."
