Friday Night, Gym -- Cheerleader Fashion Show

Friday evening, the gym had turned into quite a different place. There was a stage and runway constructed and lights were at every conceivable position to show off whomever might be up there at any given time.

There was a table set up for taking tickets and another table set up for the purchasing of refreshments.

On the stage, there was a podium draped in blue cloth and when the light hit it, it sparkled ever so slightly.

Instead of the bleachers being pulled out, there were rows upon rows of folding chairs set up through the gym, and they were garnished with bows and streamers in the colors of Fandom High.

Established was an interesting way to put it. "Um, uh, yeah," he said. "Yeah, I guess so." He looked up a little bit, peeking through he hair hanging in his eyes with a light, crooked smirk.

Well, they were in public after all. She couldn't exactly say certain things that she would have normally said.

That little peek through that hair of his had her thoughts suddenly going other places. Of her fingers tangling through it, pulling it, wrapping it around her hand and... oh dear.

"So, uh," A.J. said, tucking the hair back behind his ear; it fell forward again immediately afterward. "S'cute skirt."

It was a, uh, very short skirt, A.J. couldn't help notice.

Annette looked down at it. "It is, isn't it?" She did a little twirl for him. "I think I should ask Brooke to make me one of my own. It wraps here," she showed him, "in the front."

"...Good to know," A.J. muttered after considering those mechanics as Annette showed him. Good to know, especially if she did ask Brooke about making her one...

"Not really sure I like the shirt, though," he added. "Not with the skirt, anyway. By itself, it'd be cute. I dunno."

A.J. might be a bit more daring to say that he thought Brooke's pairing was just a little bit...um, on the slutty side, if he weren't in a room immediately following the event, with the designer still there.

Well, the tank was just a tank. Tight fitting and maybe it didn't go exactly with the skirt, or with the heels that Annette paired with it to try and make her legs look longer, but... the blue was a pretty color. Annette loved the color blue.

"It would be cuter with a pair of shorts probably," she noted, still looking down at herself.

"Or just some jeans or something," A.J. said in an agreeable tone, because, yeah, like he knew anything about fashion. He didn't hate it, so that was a good sign.

She raised her brow at him. "Gee, maybe I should let you go through my closet, pair up some outfits for me," she teased. Seriously though, if there was one thing Annette knew, it was clothes. Hello? Spoiled rich girl here.

A.J. chuckled a little. "Can I?"

He could envision completely eliminating the prospect of eliminating a possible Blue Skirt with Annette.

He hadn't seen Corey in how long, and he still hated that skirt.

She smirked. "We'll make a date of it," Annette teased.

Which just had her thinking. They should really set boundries.

No. That wasn't the right word.

Hmm. What the crap were they doing?

Just...

Annette sashayed back and forth in her little skirt for lack of something brilliant to say.

And suddenly, A.J. forgot about the blue skirt, blinking at the flouncing.

"...You like doing that way too much," he observed intelligently.

She stopped. And blinked. And then she totally grinned and started swinging lightly again.

"You mean this?"

That blue skirt bears discussing, yes.

"Yes," A.J. said, nodding, and noting the flouncing again. Purely for research purposes, of course. "That."

"But it's cute," swish swish swish "Especially the little slit right here in front; it just flows so easily and it's kind of clinging which is surprising considering the flowing quality of it. It's comfy too. Slides on and off so easy..."

"Uh-huh," A.J. muttered, barely able to keep himself from smirking. "I'm sure. You seem to be pretty well researched on this particular skirt, Annette."

"I wanted to make Brooke proud," she stated and quit with her wiggle, totally innocent. Totally. With a capital T even.

"Well," A.J. said, giving Annette a light smile, "I'd say you did. You were one of the better ones up there."

Oh her cheeks totally turned red and she bounced. "I was? You think so? Ohhh, thanks, A.J.! I lov--" Oooooooh, maybe he wouldn't appreciate her saying that in public where everyone can hear. They weren't dating or anything and it might seem weird?

She only blushed deeper now. "Uh, thanks."

A.J.'s eyebrow lifted a little in curiosity over what Annette cut herself off from saying. "Well, I mean," he said, eying her blush, "that tall guy you pointed out yesterday was pretty damn fierce, but he's not really my type."

"Chad? Oh yeah, Chad is awesome," she said with a nod, feeling her eyes drift away from that curious eyebrow lift of A.J.'s

Wait. What?

"What do you mean not your type?" Because ohhhh yeah, A.J. kind of liked... eh, Troy suddenly popped in her head.

Annette groaned but she totally didn't mean to do that out loud.

Despite himself, A.J. chuckled. "That was totally a joke, Annette," he pointed out with a grin, and then just left it at that because just even thinking about that was just...

...that was huge. A.J. totally didn't even want to think about it.

"Oh."

Er.

"Okay."

She suddenly waved her hand in a sort of flaily fashion, half in nonchalance and half in, just a ... flaily fashion.

"A.J.? I just got to tell you something and I just have to tell you now or I'm going to go crazy and no, I realize this isn't the time but you know me by now and I really think you know me and well... I just can't think about dating someone else when we are... when we have... and probably again, right? I mean, I feel... are you like... like... A.J., I'm just kind of confused in a way that I just don't get." Annette shifted foot to foot as she spoke, twisting up the side of her skirt in her hand in a nervous gesture as she did so.

A.J. blinked at Annette. Quite a few times, and he struggled to follow that. He tried very hard, though, because it was clear that there was something, but...yeah.

"I...I'm sorry, what?"

I just can't think about dating someone else when we are...

Was she....someone else...and didn't tell him? And then they...?

A.J. gulped, color draining from his face.

She sighed. "Are we, you and I, are we dating? As in no one else?"

"Uhhhh..."

A.J. realized he had no idea.

"Well, it's not like I've got anyone else."

A.J. also had no idea what was the right thing to say in a situation like this. Although it did stand to be considered that he also thought this was about Annette having someone else.
