Andromeda campfire, Monday evening

Jaina hadn't really had the concept of summer that most people had. There hadn't ever been a break from school for her, and half the time she'd be on a different planet that wouldn't even have proper summer weather. But not having classes till later in the week certainly helped with the summer feel, so that was why Jaina was starting a campfire, and wondering if she should have gotten marshmallows or something first. Oops.

"That's quite an entrance," John remarked, following Kevin's line of sight. "At least the people here are nice?"

"Toby's my boy," he said like he was staking his claim. He didn't like the way John had just looked at his boyfriend.

"Your boy?" John raised an eyebrow. "I wasn't...I mean I don't...do you own him or something?"

"Own him? Nah, man. We're not into that whole slave and master thing," he replied. "At least, not frequently."

John was a little beside himself. "So you're dating him, then."

"Yeah," he replied with a shrug. "I love him." Sometimes it felt good to say that.
