Andromeda campfire, Monday evening

Jaina hadn't really had the concept of summer that most people had. There hadn't ever been a break from school for her, and half the time she'd be on a different planet that wouldn't even have proper summer weather. But not having classes till later in the week certainly helped with the summer feel, so that was why Jaina was starting a campfire, and wondering if she should have gotten marshmallows or something first. Oops.

Shirtless and looking for Kevin, Toby stopped outside the Andromeda cabin. "How's the bonfire coming?"

This a) wasn't her cabin-campfire area, and b) Hinata had no idea if she'd be welcome or not. But she did have a bag of marshmallows and everyone else she'd met so far had been kind so maybe...

Well. She'd try.

"A-ano," Hinata said nervously, "d-do you mind if I join you?"

"Pretty well so far," Jaina said, poking a stick at the fire. And looking up and taking the shirtlessness into account, she said, "I see you're adjusting to Fandom just fine."

Lion-o had kept hidden all weekend, feeling intimidated by the fact that the other students were so much older than him and seemed to think that he looked odd. He timidly approached the campfire, prepared to flee if anyone freaked out over his appearance.

"Really? You can tell that just by looking?" Toby was amazed by the incredible people here.

John sat down next to Jaina with a sigh. "Gavin's mean. Help me prank him?"

"It's like a gift," she said seriously. "I'm Jaina, by the way."

"Not at all," Jaina said, waving her over. "Are you new?"

Having grown up around different species, his appearance didn't matter to Jaina except to tell her that he had to be new because she would have remembered him. "Hey there," Jaina greeted him.

Hinata flushed a bit. "I-it must be obvious," she said ruefully, stepping over to the girl and bowing. "I am Hyuuga Hinata." A pause there. "Hinata's i-is my first name."

Clarification was a good thing.

"Dude," Kevin said as he spied his boyfriend by the fire, "my mechanics class is going to be, like, awesome."

He moved to sit next to Toby.

"Hi," said Lion-o, not feeling very brave at all. "Is is all right if I sit down?"

Kevin jutted his chin towards Jaina. "Sup? You in this cabin?"

Hinata blinked at the... cat-person... curiously.

"A-are you a summon?" she asked tentatively.

"Hi person I don't know by the cabin that isn't mine," Lois said, flopping down on a log near the fire.

"Toby," he said, putting a hand to his smooth chest, indicating himself. "Are you like, one of the magic people?"

"A summon? What's that?" asked Lion-o.

"That is so great!" Toby exclaimed, reaching to rub his hand over Kevin's bicep. "I don't know when my classes are, I should probably check on that."

Toby waved at the shy girl. She wasn't ugly, there was no need for her to hide.

That was a new way of putting it. "I'm a Jedi," she said slowly. "Which I guess is sort of like, one of the magic people."

"Well, I hadn't seen you before, so I figured," she explained. "Good to meet you, Hinata. I'm Jaina." She was probably going to be introducing herself a lot today.

Oh dear. She pressed her fingers together nervously and tried to think of a way that wouldn't insult him.

"A-ano," Hinata said finally, "summons are animals we can call on to help us at h-home." She flushed. "My a-apologies."

"This seems to be the place for people who don't belong," John said, sending a friendly wave toward the new girl.
