Camp gym, Friday afternoon

Jaina had been pretty dedicated in her training for a while now, but she had to admit that she'd stepped it up since getting to the cabins. Every day she seemed to be doing something, whether it be in the gym or salle or the flight shed. Maybe she was just working out frustrations or something.

Today she was working out with the bag again, mostly testing her own stamina. Occasionally she'd use the Force to add weight to a punch or a kick, just to see what she could do. Might as well get the trial and error out now so she was prepared if she really had to use it.

"You sure you can look better?" he asked, smirking and walking over to join her. "Tanner, sure..."

"I'm not so bad," she said, inspecting one arm. "What are you doing down here anyway?"

"I was looking for a good napping area," he said with a hint of sarcasm. "Thought the mats would be nice and soft."

"At the one back at the dorms, you can always camp out under the bleachers," she teased. "I meant were you planning on working out or just watching?"

"I was just wandering around, seeing what I could find," he admitted. "And as luck would have it, I found you here."

"Aw, now I have to be disappointed you weren't specifically looking for me." No she wouldn't.

"But then you wouldn't be a special bonus to my day," he pointed out.

"I honestly don't have a witty comeback for that," Jaina said. "Either I'm failing or you're good."

"Uh oh, stop the presses, Jaina Solo is without a comeback," he teased.

"Obviously I must be coming down with something," she said wryly. "What do you think, will I ever live it down?"

"You can try, but it'll be a long battle," John sighed. "Think you're up for it?"

"Of course I am. I can't believe you even have to ask," she smiled.

"Then give it a go," he said. "I ask because I would never want to assume anything."

"I think you know enough to assume certain things by now," she said, considering this. That, of course, was one of those certain things.

"So then you're assuming wrong since I didn't," he shrugged, not surprised by his failure to meet expectations. It wasn't anything new for him.

Jaina shrugged. "Eh. Been a long week. I can afford to screw up now."

"Long for any particular reason?" he asked, assuming Luke leaving would be on her mind but wondering if there was anything else going on.

"Luke, mostly," she admitted. "Having to wait all week for something you don't want isn't a lot of fun." And she wasn't one to admit her own issues, so.

"That was definitely a low point this week." John nodded, never sure when he could afford to push things with her so he left it open.

And she decided to go the middle route, by admitting the issue but not that it bothered her. "On the bright side, there's no one watching me now."

"Ah, first time without any family," he said. "How's it feel?" To him this was generally a good thing, but he was aware his family was different from hers.

The easy thing would be to say that it was great and freeing and all the stuff a teenager on her own should be expected to say. "Weird," she admitted.

"There's weird good?

John sighed. "And you say it's hard to get info out of me."
