Second Floor Common Room [Tuesday Evening]

Ned hadn't been in the common room in awhile what with the cabins and the lack of oven out there. Rectifying the lack of baking was easy enough as sliding on his apron (still not pink) and heading down the hall to the nearest common room.

Now, he was in the midst of baking a pie or two.

It was almost relaxing, being able to do this again. And it didn't involve stick figures so he wouldn't end up making one side bigger than the other.

The tv was on for some background noise but Ned was baking, not watching.

"Uh, there were demons and things roaming around because of the former vice principal," he said, frowning.

Demons? "The former vice principal summoned demons? Seriously?"

She gave a moment's thought to calling her father, but then realized that if she needed him, he'd show up.

"Well he was, uh, the god of the underworld," Ned said quietly. "I think they were like his buddies."

Molly stared at Ned. "I think I'm in the wrong place."

"You're allowed in the common room," he said hurriedly. "I don't own it!"

"No, I mean here," she said quietly. "In Fandom. My father--well, he wouldn't have sent me to a place with demons. Not on purpose."

"Well, there not here anymore," he assured her. "They're gone. That was just a one time thing. No more demons!"

Molly wasn't completely convinced, but she'd wait and see, she supposed. "I don't know if I'm ready for invasions. My big brother told me a little bit about them, too."

"I've only been around one," he said, nodding. "And, I mean, there are safe places. I don't fight at all. Ever. I prefer to run away and I made it."

"Did people look at you funny for running away? Professor Skywalker made it sound like everyone's always running smack into the middle of danger."

"No," he said, shaking his head as he recalled. "No, I mean, there were a lot of people in the library with me. It wasn't like it was just me."

"Oh, okay. Good." She said, relieved. "I think I need to be with you guys if it happens again. Or take up running, which is too much like gym class."

"I think you'll be safe," he said even though he had no idea for sure. "I mean, if anything, there's closets in the dorm rooms."

She wasn't sure how she felt about that idea, either. "What do you do when you're not baking?"

"Go to classes," he said, nodding. "Take walks, read. I'm kind of dull. Life in the slow lane for me."

"What do you like to read?"

"Uh, cookbooks," he said and blushed. "Magazines. Sometimes a fictional book will catch my eye."

"No wonder you can make pies, then," said she who had managed cookie dough a few times. "They sound complicated."

"Some of them are," he said, nodding. "And they take a lot of prep time. Sometimes they're easy and I can do them with my eyes closed. Mostly."

"That's way, way better than I'll ever be," she decided. "How long have you been baking?"
