Second Floor Common Room [Tuesday Evening]

Ned hadn't been in the common room in awhile what with the cabins and the lack of oven out there. Rectifying the lack of baking was easy enough as sliding on his apron (still not pink) and heading down the hall to the nearest common room.

Now, he was in the midst of baking a pie or two.

It was almost relaxing, being able to do this again. And it didn't involve stick figures so he wouldn't end up making one side bigger than the other.

The tv was on for some background noise but Ned was baking, not watching.

"No, more like... it was fourteen years ago where I came from," Hurley said. "I don't know how it happened."

"Oh, that kind of time travel," Ned said, nodding. "There's a lot of people here who can do that. I'm not one of them. Maybe it's a hidden gene?"

"Like... something out of a comic book?" Hurley said.

"Maybe?" Ned shrugged. "I don't really read comic books to know for sure."

"I read some," Hurley said. "So... huh. I should try, like... calling home or something."

"Maybe," Ned said again. "I haven't tried yet. But, no one's told me that communication is cut off so there's gotta be a way."

"Yeah," Hurley said. "Besides, my mom will be ready to yell at me for not calling sooner. Heh."

"She misses you," Ned said, smiling a little. "That's why."

"Yeah," Hurley said with a smile. "You're right about that, dude."

"And I bet she could come for a visit sometime too," Ned said. "So, she could time travel too."

Hurley froze.

"Oh man. My mom can never, like, come here," he said.

"Because it's too weird?" Ned guessed.

"She would freak," Hurley said. "And she'd, like send me home."

"Oh." Ned needed to get hip to parental doings. "Well, then, just write her. And tell her good things. And say...the bridge is washed out so she can't come to visit? Not that we have a bridge."

"She can't really afford to fly, anyway," Hurley said. "But yeah, writing her. Definitely the best plan. With... edited details."
