Cheerleading Try-Outs -- After Classes, Tuesday, The Gym

Savannah got to the gym after classes to set things up for try-outs. She had mats and tables pulled out, with refreshments available for both the current cheerleaders and those trying out.

There was a table arranged with clipboards for the squad members to write notes as they watched the hopefuls try-out. There was also a portable stereo for those routines that were choreographed to music.

It was time for try-outs for the Fandom High Gremlins!

Joan still couldn't believe she was doing this. But she was determined not to end up on crutches, so she was stretching out.

Since he was assured he wouldn't be the only guy, there wasn't polyester and there were girls, Hannibal was here like he said he'd be.

He was doing a little stretching but mostly, he was just checking out the squad. Pretty squad.

Of all the things Sam imagined he'd be doing this semester, trying out for cheerleading wasn't one of them. And yet, here he was, stretching out.

Angela had never really thought of herself as the cheerleader type. She hardly fitted the ditzy blonde stereotype. Then again, neither did most of people here today.

However, she was at least there, in her short shorts and a polo shirt pretending she knew what she was doing.

Ella wasn't sure what she was doing here, but it seemed like even if it was an order, it might be fun. She stretched out, as she'd learned to in dancing lessons.

Kaylee...didn't exactly know how to stretch proper-like, so just mimicked what she saw other people doing. She ain't never thrown nothing out before, though.

"Hannibal King and I'm a mighty mighty junior!" Okay, he'd read that there should be some perkiness and flare. So, he was going for perky.

The tumbling aspect wasn't...as perky. It wasn't that he wasn't agile, he was just a big guy with big guy legs and big guys arms.

Needless to say, he did manage a few cartwheels (some were even one handed) before sort of sliding into one front flip, one tuck and roll and one kick up back onto his feet.

Really, he wasn't joining to be the tumbling king. He'd do the lifting, if anything.

"Peyton Sawyer, senior!" She went through a pretty impressive set of jumps and tumbling. What? She'd been taught by the best.

Okay, so it could have been more enthusiastic, but, well, this wasn't Joan's idea.

She did some awkward jumps; coordination was not her strong suit.

Sam wasn't perky as much as generally friendly, and he hoped that was enough.

"Sam Winchester, and I'm a junior," he said. He was pretty sure his dad's agility training wasn't meant for this, but he pulled off a cartwheel and a back handspring without falling on his ass. He wasn't quite as good at jumping, thanks to his ridiculous height, but from the videos he'd watched on the internet, he figured the smaller girls would be doing that stuff anyway.

"Ella of Frell, and I'm a junior," Ella offered.

She didn't know how to do most of the tumbling, but she managed a few wobbly cartwheels and a very dancey set of jumps and moves.

"Kaylee Frye! I'm a junior!" she called, and proceeded to do some somersaults, cartwheels, and even something resembling a handspring.

...what Kaylee lacked in coordination, she made up for with enthusiasm.

"Angela Montenegro, I'm a junior," she said, with a bright trademark grin. If perky was what they wanted, she did at least have that.

So, Angela attempted to revive whatever talent she'd had for this when she did it in gym class. It's fortunate she has pretty good coordination, so even if her cartwheels and rolls were a little unpractised, they were probably passable.

Peyton went into the routine that had won Brooke the best original choreography award last year. She was pretty damn good at it too!
