Cheerleading Exhibition; The Gym; Saturday Afternoon [ 10/25 ]

It was time for the cheerleaders to go about and do their thing in showing all the family and friends of the student body their school spirit! The gym, of course, was decorated in blue and gold, with a giant, sparkly "GO GREMLINS" banner, and there was up-tempo, bass-thumping music spilling out of the speakers as the cheerleaders got read and the audience filed in.

[[ OCD's a'coming got spirit, gold and blue! OCD's got spirit, how 'bout you? ]]

Ichigo was about to take a seat when he stopped in his tracks, noticing the girl who was applauding and... Wasn't she supposed to be babysitting Karin and Yuzu?

And then he remembered that she might just not be the Orihime he knew and he wasn't sure if he should say hi.

It took Orihime a moment, but, in looking all around the gym at all the prettiness, she definitely recognized that shock of orange hair. At first, she gasped in surprise, because she didn't know he would come and visit Chad, too, but, then....she remembered something Sado-kun had told her yesterday, that she didn't really understand, but...

...it didn't matter. She started waving happily. "Kurosaki-kun! Hello!"

He guessed he was saying hi then. "Hey. Inoue."

He stuffed his hands in his pockets and moved up the bleachers to the row where she was sitting. Having another Chad here was weird, but having another Orihime just made the surreality of it even more real. "You're visiting Chad?"

"Mmhm!" Orihime beamed, nodding a few more times than necessary. "Are...you? Or are you the Kurosaki-kun who's not quite the same Kurosaki-kun as the Kurosaki-kun who Sado-kun talks to and mentioned to me about Sado-kun's parents' weekend, because Sado-kun said that there's another Kurosaki-kun who's here who's the same Kurosaki-kun from there only not really."

Ichigo gave up trying to follow that sentence right around the third 'Kurosaki-kun'. "I'm the one who goes to school here," he supplied. "So um, not the one you know." That was weird to say and it left a hollow feeling behind.

"But practically the same," Orihime added with a firm nod. "That's what Sado-kun said. He says it doesn't matter; you're still Ichigo."

He let out a breath, his shoulders relaxing almost visually. "And he's still Chad," he paused. "Just taller."

"He is?" Orihime's head tilted, a blank look on her face. "I hadn't noticed."

Ichigo nodded. "Two years taller," he said, because it had been hard not to notice.

"Two yea--OH!" It hit Orihime like the brick that was her head. "Because you're still only fifteen..."

"Sixteen," he protested. "Turned sixteen this July." It was somehow important. "So maybe less than two years. I'm not sure, it's kind of weird so I don't try to think of it too much."

"That's probably a good idea," Orihime agreed with a small smile, since her head was already hurting. "Still, it's good to see you again. Is it nice going to school with Chad again? Although you probably never not went to school with Chad, did you?"

"No, he's always been there," he paused. "You all are," he then added. "I guess it's a bit strange as I hadn't expected anyone else to be here."

"Neither did I," Orihime said, hands settling in her lap, and she looked down at them with a blush. "You're still at home, watching for Hollows. You mentioned an email with Chad about this Parents Weekend thing, and I thought, well, Chad doesn't have any parents, and neither did I, so I thought it would be nice for him if I came, just so he could have someone, you know?"

"But," she added resolutely, "I didn't know you were here. That's really good for him, that you are, and, even if I did know, though, I'd have still come."

"Yeah," Ichigo agreed with a nod and he finally took a seat beside Orihime. "I think so. He's probably glad you're here too and I'm just glad the other me didn't decide to come. That'd be too weird."

"Two Ichigos in one place!" Orihime remarked, with a light, quiet chuckle. "That could get confusing."

"I bet I'd be annoying," he grumbled, which may have been a joke.

"Well, there is Kon!" Orihime offered, brightening a bit as it came to her. "But I'm not sure if he can really count!"

"I'm nothing like Kon!" Ichigo objected, making a face.

"I know! That's my point!" Orihime giggled a little more, shaking her head. "But I do like both of you, so I don't think it'd be annoying. I'm sure Tatsuki-chan would argue, though!"

Re: Audience -- 10/25

[identity profile] first-guardian.livejournal.com 2008-10-26 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
He decided that was because Tatsuki was more sane. "I think I'd just annoy myself," he admitted. "I kind of like being the only me."
