Cheerleading Exhibition; The Gym; Saturday Afternoon [ 10/25 ]

It was time for the cheerleaders to go about and do their thing in showing all the family and friends of the student body their school spirit! The gym, of course, was decorated in blue and gold, with a giant, sparkly "GO GREMLINS" banner, and there was up-tempo, bass-thumping music spilling out of the speakers as the cheerleaders got read and the audience filed in.

Kaylee caught sight of him (it wasn't hard) and eagerly waved back.

She skipped right over, waving at him as she did so and bouncing in her cute little uniform. She liked how it flared! "Hiya!"

"Excited!" she told him, beaming. "This is m'first real thing as a cheerleader!"

"You're all prepared and everything?" Ned asked.

"I got my uniform an' my fluffy things," she said, waving her pom-poms at him.

"You look very prepared," he said and turned his body a little towards Chuck's. "Um, I actually had someone come to see me this weekend."

"Oh! Hi!" Kaylee said, peeking around him at the girl.

"Hi!" Chuck said, smiling warmly and sticking out a hand. "You must be Kaywinnit."

And that would be Kaylee glaring at Ned as she shook Chuck's hand.

Oh look, Ned found the floor interesting.

"This is my friend, Chuck," he said to his feet, reaching out to awkwardly pat Chuck's shoulder.

"Nice t'meet you, Chuck," Kaylee said, smiling at the girl. Wow, she was pretty. He hadn't told her that. "Um, you can call me Kaylee. Kaywinnit's...a name I don't use too much."

Again with the glaring.

"Chuck surprised me," he said, grinning at Chuck. "I didn't know she'd be coming and she found me at the picnic. I showed her my room and Digby."

"And he told me a little about you," Chuck added, because the girl probably wanted to hear something like that. "Kaylee's a pretty name."

"So is...Chuck." That was a lie, she didn't think it was. "It's so shiny you could come an' visit us this weekend." She looked to Ned. "Didja tell her about all the weird stuff?"

"Um, I didn't really get there yet," Ned said. "We spent last night just talking about the last ten years. She actually wanted to know and stuff."

Kaylee watched that, felt a little flare of...something, and cheerfully replied, "Like how I'm from five hundred years in the future!"

"Yeah, we hadn't gotten there yet," he said, taking his own turn at glaring and sending it towards Kaywinnit. "But yes, she's from the future. And from another planet."

"Really?" Chuck finally found her voice. "I mean...how? Is that kind of thing normal here?"

"Yes and I was planning on explaining some of this to you later," Ned assured her. "I didn't want to make the first night full of weird stuff. I wanted to just talk with you."
