Sunday Afternoon: Third Floor Common Room

Dor wasn't sure what the big deal was about the big football game. After all they had football back in Xanth but they were just balls of feet that rolled around the jungle making footpaths for the populace to use.

So he decided to skip the whole gathering and settle down in the common room and see what was on TV.

It was then that he stumbled across the Puppy Bowl and somehow became hypnotized by the images of puppies frolicking around and playing with each other.

[Because... well it's what I watch instead of the Super Bowl. Because it's Puppies. Yes, I am a dork.]

"I think it has something to do with the football game going on today," Dor replied. "Though I don't see how."

"Really? I wouldn't have expected them to have anything in common," Adora said. "Perhaps it will make more sense once I see some of the game."

"I don't see what's so interesting about it," Dor replied. "We have footballs back home and all they are is balls of feet that roll around the jungle making footpaths."

The mental image of that left her a bit speechless. "I...don't think that's what football is here. It looked more like men in uniforms attacking one another and tossing a toy around."

Dor shook his head and chuckled. "Well that sounds downright silly. I mean it sounds like the game doesn't even involve feet."

"Yeah, I don't think people on this planet are big about naming things in ways that correspond to what's actually happening," Adora said. "Although, in watching the E-S-P-N for class, I learned that there is another type of football that actually involves feet. Earth is so confusing."

"I'm still trying to figure out that kind of stuff," Dor said shaking his head. "Did you know their milk comes from cows?"

"Cows?" No, that animal was not familiar to Adora. "What does your milk come from?"

"Milk weed," Dor replied. "You just open the pods and you can drink directly from it. Though I think that's something only from Xanth."

"Oh, well, that makes as much sense as anything," Adora said. "Is a cow much more unpleasant?"

"I've heard about it. They get the milk from a cow's udder," Dor said with a frown. The word itself made him shiver.

Adora cocked her head, trying to understand why he was shivering. "Dor, do I want to know what an udder is?"

"I don't think it would be polite of me to tell you," Dor replied and then hesitated for a moment before adding:

"Though there is something we need to talk about."

He sounded strangely serious. "If it's about what the shower curtain told me, we really don't need to talk," Adora promised.

"... What did the shower curtain say?" Dor asked cautiously.

"Nothing that bears repeating," Adora said quickly, forcing a smile and trying her hardest not to blush. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Last week. You left the window open in our room," Dor replied. "Right before Heroing class. Do you remember?"

Yes. This was Dor trying to be subtle.

Adora's eyes went wide and her mind raced as she wondered what he knew. "Oh! Yes, the window. I'm sorry! Did anything important blow away?"

"No. But the room told me everything that happened right before the whole... window thing," Dor replied giving her a knowing look. "Which kind of explains how you weren't exactly in class that day."

"Then you know about She-Ra," Adora said quietly, biting her lip and waiting for him to get angry or something.

"Yes," Dor said with a nod. "I have to admit I don't know how it whole works or anything but I'm assuming it's like Bitterwoman having a secret identity and everything, right? And don't worry. I haven't told anyone and the room isn't allowed to say a word about it to anyone else."

She chanced a hopeful look, "Then you're not upset that I kept this from you?" It was sort of amazing to think Dor understood the secret identity thing already.

"Well, I figured you had a good reason," Dor replied. "Plus I work in a comic book shop. I just thought you keep your secret identity so that no one can go after the people you care for."

"That is it exactly!" Adora was so excited. "Dor, you are so understanding, I'm glad it was you that found out. Was there anything you'd like me to explain? Or is it better if you don't know?"

"I don't know," Dor replied. "In the comics there's usually a whole origin story when this kind of revelation happens. The room mentioned something about a grey skull. Is that part of it?"
