Fifth Floor Common Room; Friday Evening [ 03/06 ].

Turtle was thinking that maybe she should have something exciting or interesting to do on a Friday but...well, she kind of didn't. She did, however, need to get away from that stupid, drooling dog for just a little bit, so she took a book and drifted down to the common room. She made some hot cocoa and curled up on the corner of the couch.

However, CNN on was on the background, so she kept getting distracted from reading, especially in watching the little ticker go by at the bottom of the screen.

Hurley came into the common room after he'd closed up shop at the flower shop.

"...CNN? Really?" he said.

Turtle arched an eyebrow, though she grinned as she turned her head toward Hurley. "Really," she said. "I actually like to, you know, keep up with what's going on in the world."

"Isn't that, like, what newspapers are for?" Hurley said.

"Well, sure," Turtle said with a nod, "but not all media was created equal, Hurley. Every type has its own bias, or spin, if you will. So keeping up with different ones gives you a fuller picture."

"Dude, are you saying that they lie?" Hurley said.

There was a bit of a pause.

"...nooo," Turtle said, carefully, "not that they lie so much as there are certain...shades of truth..."

"...shades of truth?" Hurley said. "What, like... avoiding the subject but not really lying? That sort of thing?"

"Kind of?" Turtle said. "I mean, different news media could be carrying the same story, but they could report on it in two entirely different ways. Both are technically write, to a certain degree, although both also seem to be giving it a different view..."

"...Dude, that's messed up," Hurley said. "Why can't people just tell it the right way? I mean, maybe I'm just being idealistic, but... seems like you wouldn't be able to trust anything, this way."

Hinata had been heading for the roof, just for some air, but upon glancing inside the common room on her way past, she paused and changed her mind.

"Good evening, Turtle-san," she said, smiling.

"Hinata!" Turtle looked over from the TV with a smile. "Hey. Long time, no see; how've you been?"

"Well enough." Hinata slipped into the room. "Quiet, but I think, getting b-better at being confident." At least a bit. "So I can't complain. Have you been well?"

"No complaints here!" Turtle said; she supposed she could have complained about the economy but she was actually sitting pretty well at the moment. The mega baby sale from Reno had her set for the whole week. "Did you go along on the cruise last week?"

"I did," she said, laughing softly. "Though I spent more time reading and t-trying not to get a sunburn than shopping or anything like that. The water was nice though--and the boat was a-amazing."

"It was a really, really awesome trip," Turtle agreed, and, with a faint smile, she added, "I'm glad to be back, though. That probably makes me crazy."

"I am too," she admitted. "Does that mean I a-am crazy as well? I prefer the routine here."

"Well," Turtle laughed a little, "if we're crazy, then we're crazy together. It's the same for me. Any longer than a week away from work, and I think I would have gotten way too antsy."

"How is your b-business going?" she inquired. "I can't imagine any shop owner wanting to be away from their business for too l-long."

"Heeeey Hinata," Hurley greeted her. "You totally have to come hang out."

"I was heading for the roof," she said, grinning a bit. "But I s-suppose staying here is close enough to it. Hello, Hurley."

"Besides, it's warmer here," Hurley said. "Wouldn't want you catching cold or anything."

"I have my j-jacket," Hinata protested as she took a seat on the couch. "I would be fine for at least a little while."

She almost always had her jacket, really.

"Yeah, and I kinda got my own personal insulation," Hurley said. "Doesn't mean staying inside isn't still a better idea, sometimes."

"This time of the year, at least," she conceded. "Though it is g-getting nicer."

"Yeah," Hurley said. "Hopefully it'll warm up soon. I really don't like the cold."
