The Deck, early evening Thursday

Dinah had hamburgers and hot dogs, some veggie platters and chips and dip, soft drinks and cake. Oh, and ice cream in the fridge inside for later.

Happy birthday, Will Shakespeare! Oh, and her too.

[very limited OCD ~~about to go~~ up!, for early justice and time zones; set before Dress Rehearsal/Previews.

Continuing on the theme from the diner, Priestly went to go try and take over the music in the rec room and get some blasting electric violin action going.

"Hi, you," Claudia said with a grin.

"Hey! It's my favorite artist!"

"That is the best greeting ever," she decided, leaning up on her ~~insane~~ platform heels to kiss him on the cheek. "Did the boys give you hell at the diner today?"

"If they did, I couldn't hear 'em. Turns out, that place has got one hell of a stereo system."

"Really?" Claudia grinned. "What did you play?"

"Flogging Molly and Gogol Bordello. Gotta love punk with violins."

"Totally," Claudia enthused. "I don't think I've heard the second band, though."

"Oh man, they're awesome. Practically invented the whole neo-balkan subgenre. Kind of like Flogging Molly only Eastern European."

Claudia only had the vaguest idea what he was talking about. She needed to go live in the music store for the summer. "Can I borrow a tape?"

CD, honey.

Not even CD. MP3.

". . . I'm sure I could get you a copy somehow."

"You're my favorite Priestly ever," she pronounced with a smile. "I can't believe I still have a test to gooooo. I want it to be summertime."

"I know! I still have to deal with P.E. tomorrow."

"Bah," Claudia said, making a face. "I have to do a presentation about ~~meta for~~ From Justin to Kelly."

"I'm probably gonna have to play dodgeball."

Which . . . okay, might actually be a lot of fun. Priestly was pretty decent at dodgeball.

Claudia made another face. She was not a huge dodgeball fan. "And then three glorious months of nothing but getting tan!"

"And watching girls get tans. You sticking around for the summer?"

"~~It'll be like a super special!~~ Definitely!" she chirped. "Unless a friend at home wins the lottery again or something."

Priestly blinked. "That happen a lot where you're from?"

"More often than you'd think," Claudia said with a grin.

Priestly nodded. He was getting very used to hearing about bizarre things. "Man, that's some luck."

"Never mine," she said, "but I have lucky friends. My luck goes the other way, like repeating grades."

~~Especially 8th.~~ "Yeah, that's definitely gotta suck. But you're doing okay here, right?"

"I think so," Claudia said. "How sad would it be to flunk at classes like eating?"

"On the other hand, you could become a supermodel."
