The Deck, early evening Thursday

Dinah had hamburgers and hot dogs, some veggie platters and chips and dip, soft drinks and cake. Oh, and ice cream in the fridge inside for later.

Happy birthday, Will Shakespeare! Oh, and her too.

[very limited OCD about to go up!, for early justice and time zones; set before Dress Rehearsal/Previews.

Anyone welcome, even if you don't know her! I'm sticking to Dinah's thread to keep it simple.]

Hinata slipped in, sticking to the edges of the party, though she did realize that with the deck that was rather harder than normal to accomplish.

There was someone else sticking mostly to the edges of the party, and her eyes were naturally drawn to anyone doing the same thing. She raised a curious eyebrow in Hinata's direction.

Hinata would be a poor ninja if she didn't notice the feel of eyes on her fairly quickly and she glanced up, meeting Triela's gaze steadily.

Yes? was the silent question.

Triela smiled a small, if friendly, smile and glanced pointedly at the party. It was pretty obvious they were both staying on the edges on purpose. Which was interesting.

She looked a bit rueful at that, shrugging a little with a small smile.

Of course, that meant she had to glance at Triela and then at the party with a glance of her own.

That drew a half-grin-half-smirk from Triela in turn. She shrugged herself. Not a party person really, even if she did have a package that was probably a present tucked under one arm.

She gestured to the chairs closest to the edge. Should they maybe sit?

Re: FOOD.

Triela inclined her head and started moving that way, careful not to disturb the flow of people nearby. After all, that was part of the point of standing at the edges: not drawing attention.

But of course.

Her footsteps were light and assured, while her passage barely got a blink, and soon enough she was taking a seat at one of the chairs.

"Hello," Triela said softly as she sat down. She was smiling slightly, but she was looking at the crowd rather than Hinata.

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
The crowd was far more interesting than she was. "Good evening," she said, just as quietly. "As p-parties go, this one seems to be doing well."

Ah, small talk.

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Triela's grin widened a bit at that. "I suppose so."

She cocked her head slightly, letting her attention focus on a random party-goer. "Do you know Dinah?"

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
"A bit, at least," she said, just watching the crowd. "I w-would make no claim to being particularly close friends, though I would say we're friends. You?"

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"We're both in the gun club." Triela was silent for a moment before she turned to Hinata.

"Triela," she offered.

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Hinata Hyuuga," she replied, with a smile. "Guns are a weapon from this w-world, correct?"

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
"A very effective one," Triela nodded. She looked Hinata up and down. "You should join us sometime if you're curious."

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
"Just anyone can learn?" she asked, glancing at Triela.

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure," Triela said casually. "It's easy."

Triela may not be the best judge of that...

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
No, probably not.

"A weapon should properly require skill," she said mildly. "At least, that is h-how I was taught."

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"I didn't say everyone was good with them," Triela grins in amusement. "That's why we have the club. So people can practice."

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
"How do they work?" Hinata asked, mildly interested.

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Simple explanation, or technical?" Triela asked. She'd be glad to provide both!

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Both of course," she said, smiling. "As there's no s-such thing as too much knowledge."

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Simply: guns have barrels and triggers. You aim the barrel at the target and squeeze the trigger and the gun launches a bullet at extremely high speed."

"Complex: bullets are molded into shells containing a propellant. The gun fires by igniting the propellant in the barrel which expands quickly. Like a miniature explosion. The bullet then gets forced down the barrel ahead of the force of it."

She lifted an eyebrow. Any questions?

Re: FOOD.

[identity profile] shyest-eyes.livejournal.com 2009-04-24 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
She digested that. "And you a-allow just anyone near them?"
