The Salle, Monday Morning

The lack of classes meant Arthur would be spending more time in the salle than usual (if that was even possible), and he hadn't wasted too much time getting there that morning. His arm was coming along nicely, and so he took a practice blade for his left.

Might as well get some simple drills in while he waited.

"And tickle fights are supposed to be fair?" he replied.

Just for that, she tried to get him beneath the ribs again. "Well, no, but . . ."

Ben began giggling some more. "Then I don't see the problem."

Dork.

"It'll be a problem if I can't breathe any more," Tahiri pointed out. Whether that would be from the laughing or the getting sat on . . .

Ben leaned in. "Is that really a problem?"

[weetuskenraider]

"I'm just saying it might be," Tahiri insisted, her eyes twinkling as she halfheartedly tried to squirm away again.

Ben moved onto the mat. "Better?"

"Kind of," Tahiri said, and reached out to tickle him again.

Though Ben would deny it forever, he totally squeaked when she did that.

Tahiri was never going to forget he did, either. "You know," she said, grinning up at him, "I don't think this is what the salle is supposed to be for."

"I was exploring alternative methods of attack," Ben completely made up.

"Uh huh. Because my weak spots work for everyone," Tahiri teased.

"Have we tried the Yuuzhan Vong tickle attack?" Ben asked.

Tahiri ignored the minor twinge of indignation in the back of her mind in favor of collapsing back onto the mat laughing. "There's no such thing!"

"You're the expert," Ben said with an easy smile, "but I don't know...they could be holding something back. Maybe what they really wanted was a giant pillow fight."

"That could have solved so many problems. Just what every creche needed," Tahiri said, but this time an odd look crossed her face for just a moment.

Back off, Riina, Ben thought. "And then ice cream, and poof, problem solved," he continued. "It's amazing my dad didn't need me for negotiations. I'm good at this."

Tahiri gritted her teeth, took a breath, and managed an easier smile. "If you handled negotiations, you'd keep the ice cream industry in business all by yourself."

"I wouldn't share until everyone agreed with me," Ben decided.

"Dork," Tahiri said affectionately, and added to herself, Oh, don't think I wouldn't make you agree, Riina.

"Yup," Ben agreed, reaching out to mess up her hair.

Tahiri shut her eyes and made a goofy face. "Good thing I like you that way."

"A very good thing," Ben said.

Tahiri just grinned up at him. "Well, now I'm comfortable and I don't want to move."

"I bet if you tried to nap, Arthur would give you looks," Ben said.
