The Second Floor Common Room, Thursday Evening
Karla was nervous. Well, that wasn't much of a surprise. Karla had been nervous all day. But this was a new and different kind of nervous. Now, she was about to host a party, which she had never done, in a world that was still foreign to her, and for many girls she did not know very well. It was enough to unsettle even the strongest nerves.
Still, she though she was ready. Dinah had promised to provide her laptop for movies. Karla and Gabrielle had gone to Turtle's and purchased lots ofmoddable snacks, sodas, and lots of candy and chocolates. She'd bought make-up, since Dinah had mentioned it's importance in such matters, plenty of blankets and pillows to share, and several other sundries because she wasn't entirely certain what else would be needed, and wished to be prepared. Also, lots of booze, from her private Kaeleeran stash.
Most importantly, there was a small, neatly lettered sign on the door that said 'No Males Please.'
Well, she was as ready as she was ever going to be. "Kiss kiss," she muttered.
[Give me a second for the OCD, please. OCD is ready to party! Sorry for the repost! Wrong LJ.]

Harper's romances tended to be just a little too one-sided.

She could overlook a lot of potential pitfalls, including the fact that Eric really wasn't interested in her.

Of course, Eric wasn't really Harper's boyfriend. She was just in denial.

Oh. Riiiiight. "That's his name!" Karla snapped her fingers. "I'd forgotten. Eric is the one courting me, yes. I should contact him and find out what we are doing for our date."
Beat. "He is in my sexual anthropology class. Our teacher assigned us to go on dates to understand courtship. I didn't even know Eric until our teacher called our names."
Karla probably should have stopped there. She didn't.
"How is he your boyfriend? He told me right away that he didn't like females that way."
Re: Mingle!
"Well, he's not my boyfriend yet," she tried to explain. "But I'm sure he'll want to be my boyfriend when he realizes how I'm different from other girls."
Re: Mingle!
unconsciously imitating Surreal"unless things are very different here than at home" though, to be fair, many things were "Eric's only going to care if your 'differences' include a pair of balls and the equiptment that goes with them."Perhaps blunter than she needed to be, but Karla was having a rotten day, and Harper's assumptions were hitting that last nerve.
Re: Mingle!
"Well, I'll believe it when I hear that from Eric!" she said. Never mind that Eric already tried to tell her that on Sunday...
