Fifth floor common room, Saturday evening

After detention there had been some time to check messages and figure out if there was anything she needed to catch up on after spending her morning cleaning up alligator parts, and then she'd gone for the second shower. Her priorities were a bit skewed, but 'ew' was 'ew'.

Since she had some time on her hands, she settled into the common room of her apparently adopted floor with popcorn and her comlink on the table in front of her, flipping through channels and being really glad that Scifi's monster movies tonight had nothing to do with lizards.

"I cleaned up alligators today, I really wasn't wanting to take chances with hygiene," she explained.

"Yeah, it was pretty gross. Not the worst," because harpies had wings and feathers and John remembered that trip with the voxyn, "but gross. I don't think I'm going to miss cleaning up after nasty stuff."

"You'd enjoy that too much," he replied. "What was my last career idea? It was much cooler."

"If it was good, it'll come back," John shrugged. "Besides, you're supposed to remember everything I say. Isn't that some girlfriend rule?"

"What is in the handbook?" John wondered if there shouldn't be one for dating Jedi. "How to pretend he's interesting and laugh at his jokes?"

"Next to the entry about passing your popcorn to keep your boyfriend from pouting?" John inquired.

"That's not in there," she said, passing the popcorn anyway. "I should suggest it to the editor."

He dug his hand in the bowl and shoved a large amount in his mouth. "Dad bwe a 'ood idee," he told her.

"Also not in there: understanding him with his mouth full," Jaina said.

He smirked, chewed, and swallowed. "You need some serious training if you're going to last," John teased.

"Do I now?" she asked. "I didn't realize I had so much to work on."

"Well, there's no saying you have to," he pointed out.

"But I should. If I want to last." Two years in, this definitely amused her.

Twenty-one months, not that he was counting. "Not that you'd want that."

"I could ask," she pointed out, a little curious as to who he'd say.
