Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning

Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.

Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.

There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

"He's super friendly with everyone and aw, see he likes you already." Bruiser lifted his tiny head up and blinked cutely at Claire. "I'm settling in super great. My roommate, Adora? She's totally awesome and so sweet. The picnic was so much fun yesterday. So many students I didn't have a chance to meet them all. What grade are you in?" Elle rambled as she prepared a small bowl of broken up pieces of pancake and fruit for Bruiser.

Wow, Elle was cheerful.

"I'm a junior," Claire said. "And there are still people I haven't met. The island is small, but somehow there are a lot of people here."

"There are," she exclaimed with a small laugh. "And so many girls here with the name Elle or Ellie or Eleanor; we're bound to confuse our teachers." Not that Elle Woods could ever be confused with someone else. "Did you go to the picnic yesterday? The administration deserves a pat on the back, totally." She set the bowl on the floor for Bruiser. "Here sweetie. Breakfast!"

"I missed the picnic," Claire said. "Did you meet my friend Ellie Bartowski? She and her roommate are both named Eleanor. It was kind of weird."

"Yes!" she exclaimed brightly. "She's amazing. We're in the midst of making plans to go to the spa. It's going to be totally fun. I also met her roommate but she totally didn't know what a spa was which wow, amazing right? But I have a feeling Adora wouldn't know either since she didn't know what a salon was. I wonder what kind of home life these girls come from. Every girl should have a chance to be pampered."

Claire smiled. "I don't know Adora, but I'm pretty sure Eleanor is from before running water was commonplace, so that's probably why she didn't know."

Blink.

"I'm sorry? I think I heard you wrong or you were making fun of her in a totally cute way that I'm not sure I'm understanding?"

"Uh... didn't anyone tell you about Fandom's... quirks?" Claire asked.

"The weirdness? Turtle told me about the giant mutant alligators. Fiona showed me a magic rose. Everyone else mentioned weird or odd but now I can add quirks to that list too," she said, beginning to suspect something was up here.

"So... no one mentioned that some people here are from the past or the future or other planets?" Claire asked.

"Layla who knows stuff mentioned other universes. I figured she was a fan of comic books and loved sci-fi. Now that you mention it, people did use the term world a lot. Like as in another state or country I think?"

"More like other planets and galaxies," Claire said. "All that stuff in comic books? Is kind of true around here."

Blink.

"I'm not hallucinating?" She wasn't she knew it.

"Omigod."

"No," Claire said, giving a sheepish smile. "It's a lot to take in, I know."

Even from someone who lived a comic book sort of life.

Elle ate a strawberry, thinking about comic books and the sorts of things that were in them. Not that she was a fan but she did help her friend Margot babysit once and the little boy had comics strewn everywhere. She couldn't help but glance at a few.

"You seem happy though so it's possible nothing is going to happen and I won't find myself suddenly beamed up into an unknown aircraft and taken away while the students here form a defense group to save me." A slight pause. "I'm totally looking on the bright side as being positive makes me happy."

Claire smiled. "That's the best way to handle it. Looking on the bright side."

"I know! And I always try to recruit people over because happy people are healthy and it makes for good friendships and an overall sense of well-being. Thank you for the pancakes, Claire. So sweet of you to get up and cook for people."

"Oh, you're welcome," Claire said. "I enjoy cooking and I felt bad that I didn't get to the picnic yesterday to meet people. You'll find people cooking in the common rooms on a pretty regular basis."

"That's super great to know because I love cooking too. I love baking so I'm sure you'll find me in here one day soon, having lots of fun!"
