Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning

Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.

Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.

There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

"Hello, Kate," Arthur returned. It was polite, thusfar. "I'm Arthur Pendragon."

Listen, it was either the full name, or the title. "How are you enjoying the island thusfar? Anyone tried to scare you yet?"

Unless he'd miscalculated and she wasn't a new student, in which case he'd just have to plow on through.

For some reason, weird names didn't bother Kate at all. The other stuff, yes, but not the names.

"Nice to meet you, Arthur", she nodded. "I think I overdid the ice cream thing yesterday, but otherwise it seems okay, so far. ...And I have heard some strange stuff from some people, if that counts as scary?"

"Just strange is normal," Arthur offered her, "I suspect the island works in degrees of it; sounds like your sibling has done a good job of working you up to it."

Kate shrugged. "I think she's supposed to try to ease me into things a bit more today, actually."

She paused and looked at her empty, blueberry-smeared plate for a second. "I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to that. But I guess the sooner I come to terms with the stuff that goes on around here, the better."

"Good luck."

Arthur... may have known a few things about difficulties fitting in and getting used to things, not that he'd admit to it. "Who is your sibling?" Because some... might be more helpful than others.

"Francine", she replied, "who seems to be pretty much the awesomest big sister ever. ...Granted that I tend to see people as awesome when they bring me cookies." She grinned.

Arthur snorted. "If Francine is your sibling," he said, magnanimously, "You may wish to stop eating. You'll be full come the evening. But she should see you off well."

"I have a brother who bakes and cooks a lot. I'm pretty good at avoiding over-eating", Kate explained. Of course, she hadn't manage to avoid it the day before... She pushed the plate away from herself.

"She seemed nice, at least. I hope she gets me through this relatively sane."

"She's approaching to sane," Arthur said, thoughtfully, "On the Fandom scale." That was reassuring, Arthur. "The dorm rooms are usually a safe haven, if it does seem to go wrong."

Arthur himself wasn't so sure of that, but it seemed reassuring enough.

Kate attempted to be reassured, because it seemed that that was what he was going for. She was failing at it.

"I'll keep that in mind", was all she came up with to say.
