Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning

Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.

Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.

There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

[oooooopen common room!]

"Aw, why do you say that?" asked Elle.

"I just don't get people," Elle said, snagging a cup of coffee. "I mean... it seems like people just wait until someone can't do anything for them anymore."

"...are you talking about someone in particular, Elle?"

"Sort of." Elle frowned, not at all sure how to say it. "I've just... seen how the adults in my life treat people that they call their friends and coworkers."

"Oh," she nodded. "Adults are peculiar sometimes in their friendships with people. I know. It's why I'm glad I'm not one yet so I can learn from their mistakes and improve on my own attitude so when I make friends I know how to treat them as they should be treated. You experienced something unkind?"

Oh, had she ever. Not that she remembered it, of course.

"I don't know," Elle admitted. "I just... I know this guy from back home. Friend of my dad's. They worked together. And apparently, before I was born, something happened and Adam got forced out of the company they worked for."

Of course, this was Elle not knowing all the details yet.

Elle thought about that. "Maybe that something was bad and it involved Adam and there was no other choice for him but to leave the company?" She had no idea of course but worked towards the positive side of speculation.
