Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning

Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.

Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.

There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

"I am both new *and* someone you haven't managed to meet yet," Bobby pointed out, because he thought he was funny. "My name's Bobby."

"Nice to meet you, Bobby," Claire said. "Where are you from?"

"New York," Bobby explained. "Westchester. Or, well, Long Island originally but I moved for school."

"You mean you went to boarding school before this one?" she asked.

"Yeah," Bobby shrugged. "This place is a lot bigger than my old school, though." There were more people in the common room than had been in his old school, actually.

Claire nodded. "How come you switched?"

"It's not so much a switch as just... trying out this summer camp thing?" As far as he knew. "Needed a bit of a change of scenery."

"I can get that," she said. "I like it here though. Hopefully you will too."

"It seems cool so far," Bobby had to admit. "If a little weird," he could deal with weird, at least.

"Weird is kind of a specialty around here," Claire told him.

"Yeah, my big brother said as much," Bobby snorted. "He told me he's an alien!" well, no, Bobby, he said he was from another world. It's not quite the same.

"Oh? And who's your big brother?" Claire asked, trying to recall if she knew anyone who introduced themselves that way.

"Zack Fair," Bobby said. "Really enthusiastic, wears armour, apparently runs something called the reserve?" that was still weird to him; he'd kind of figured that sort of thing was unique to Xavier's school.

Claire nodded. "He's good friends with my roommate, Dinah."

"So not only are you the first non-new person I've met other than my pretend sibling guy, you're also the first person I've met who actually knows someone else I've met! Well, I suppose Zack counts too now, but I hadn't met you at the time."

Okay, Claire could follow that. And really, Bobby could give Dinah a run for her money with the babbling.

"There are a lot of people here," she said. "There are still lots of people I haven't met yet even."

"Really?" Bobby asked. "How long have you been here?"

"Only two months," Claire admitted.

"Okay, then you've got a valid excuse for not knowing everyone," Bobby allowed. "But if you'd been here for like, two years, I'd expect full dossiers on everyone," he continued, wagging a finger at her in a mock-stern manner.

"I'll keep that in mind," Claire said with a giggle.

"There'll be a test at the end of the summer," Bobby said solemnly.
