Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning

Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.

Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.

There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

"Yeah, I skipped the picnic yesterday, so I figured it was a good way to meet some new people," Claire said. "Want some?"

"I'm certainly not going to say no," Leto replied. "How have you been, Claire?"

Claire poured some more batter on the griddle. "I'm doing great," she said. "I had a good time on Arrakis the other day."

"I'm glad to hear that." He genuinely was, and he let it show. "How did you spend your time?"

"Dinah and I went rock climbing and then I went shopping," she said. "Then Jon and I did a thoppter ride. They let him fly, which was cool."

She flipped the pancakes. "And I rode the sandworm, of course."

His response was a soft laugh. "I'm glad Ghani decided to organise the trip. And I enjoyed going home... even if it wasn't quite my home."

Claire nodded. "It was nice to see where you're from. What have you been up to lately?"

"Not much," he replied, meaning not much that he didn't usually do. "My stepmother has arrived in Fandom and opened a hat shop."

"Is that a good thing?" she asked, sliding the pancakes onto a plate and holding it out for him. "Is she nice? Or a wicked stepmother?"

"Thank you." He accepted the plate. "And she is the good kind of stepmother, who out of concern might be prone to take too much of an interest in things that really shouldn't be her concern." He grinned. "But it is good to have her here."

"I may have to stop by her shop and look for a hat," Claire decided.

She stepped aside. "There's strawberries, blueberries and whipped topping. And I think there's normal maple syrup in the fridge."

"Normal? I think I'll try the strawberries," Leto said. "And I'm sure Irulan will find you a hat, although perhaps not as extreme as some of her own."

"You've never had pancakes with maple syrup?" Claire asked.

"Yes, but not before I came to Fandom, so I don't define it as normal." He dug into his pancake. "This is delicious."

"Oh, okay," she said with a smile. "And thanks. I'm glad you like them. They've been very popular this morning."

"I'm not surprised." He smiled at her.
