Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning

Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.

Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.

There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

[oooooopen common room!]

"M'face is popular, I s'pose," George said, tilting his head. "Another lass though I was her brother. 'M sorry i'm not your friend."

"Nice t'meet you as well," he said, smiling back. "I hear yer th'one who's been makin' th' good smellin' cakes?"

"Th' Lower City," he said instantly before remembering. "Tortall. They tell me tis another world."

He sighed heavily. "Me mam wanted me t'get some more schoolin' than the temples give. I dunno how she found out about this place, but here I am. And ye, lass? Yer from this world then?"

George nodded. Because that made just about as much sense as Bobby's New York clarification. "What's it like in Texas?"

He snickered at her description. "I dunno what all of it's like. I grew up in the Lower City- never really left it."

"Crowded," George said immediately. He thought of his description to Fiona, and this mornin' thinkin' of it that hard almost made him homesick. "Lots o' people bustlin' here and there. Farmers and merchants all dressed up to come t'town and then losin' all their valuables. Lasses on the street selling flowers and pastries and -" that wasn't somethin' to talk about right now. "Boys runnin' on errands."

He shrugged. "Everyone's poor and tryin' to feed themselves."

"Thank you, lass," George said easily. He hadn't worried since he'd started running under the Rogue, but she didn't know that, and she was bein' kind. "Do ye take turns cookin' or jus' catch as catch can?"

He laughed. "I already traveled up a floor t'come here. Was hopin' no one noticed and threw me out."

"Now I'll be takin' ye at yer word, lass," George teased. "An' get thrown out for bein' obnoxious in one."

"Aww, where's th' fun in that then?" he laughed. "An' yes please, if you have enough."

His mother would be proud of the please.
