Third Floor Common Room - Saturday Morning

Claire was still in an excellent mood after her conversation with Jon last night. She decided to pass on the trip into the city and instead headed for the common room to make breakfast in an effort to meet some new people.

Anyone making their way past the room would be welcome to enjoy some pancakes with blueberry topping, strawberry topping and/or whipped cream. Because, yes, Claire was kind of a dork and went the red, white and blue route.

There was an appropriate holiday movie on the television.

George glanced over at the blonde girl then took a plate, filling it quickly before she could say no. There was a lot of blueberry topping used.

"Do people always jus' make food?"

"I hope so?" Bobby said. "I only know how to make, like, cereal. I wasn't even allowed to make macaroni at my old school unless, like, Hank or Jean was around to make sure I watched the pot so the noodles wouldn't burn." They'd had to institute that rule after the fourth time Bobby wandered off to go play video games instead of staying in the kitchen.

George had never been cooking so much, but the idea of wasting food made him cringe a bit inside. Still there was another thing that caught his interest more. "You used t'go to school elsewhere?" he asked curiously. "Not just here?"

It's not like he wasted it on purpose! "Oh yeah," Bobby nodded. "In New York. Well, not New York New York, but Westchester."

He had to laugh, the clarification not meaning much to him. "Tis appreciated, but I still don't have a clue where that might be," George admitted. It kinda sucked not instantly knowing where everything was.

Oh please, like Bobby knew where everything was? This would be the guy who assumed Corellia was in Europe!

"Oh, it's uh. Kinda north of here?"

"Th' type o' north ye can walk to or th' type you'd ride a horse?"

"Um, I took a plane? But there's trains too and, you know? I'm just gonna go with horse-needing distance."

George looked over at Bobby and started laughing. This entire thing was too cracked. "Y'know, I don' even know yer name, and we're already speakin' different languages. I'm George Cooper."

Bobby... was pretty sure they'd been speaking English, but whatever. "Bobby Drake. Nice t'meetcha, dude."

Trains, planes, schools, macaroni, cereal, pancakes. George was developing quite a list of things he needed to figure out. Not to mention how th' lass was managing to cook without actually havin' a fire or why that wee magic box in the corner kept talkin' without anyone paying it any mind.

"Glad t'meet ye too," George said with a quick smile. "Are ye new here too then?"

Bobby nodded. "Fresh off the shuttle. Well, yesterday." Oh look, another word George wouldn't know.

He was just doing that on purpose now.

"An' the same here," George agreed. "Except I walked."

He was not! He was just being Bobby. "Walked? From *where*?" He didn't sound American, that's for sure.

"Jus' acrost the bridge," George said with a shrug. "I'm told it's a different world." He looked around with wide eyes. "Kinda seems so. 'M from the Lower City in Tortall."

"Yeah, I've never heard of it," Bobby had to admit. "Different world, really?" Would that make him an alien too?

"That's what m' 'big sister' said," George said with a shrug. "S'pose it works as well as anything? None o' th' names I've heard so far sound familiar."

"Huh," Bobby said. "I guess that makes you an alien too. Second one I've met, including my big brother. Cool."

George frowned. "...alien?"

"Yeah!" Bobby nodded. "It's a word for, you know, someone not from this world- Earth."

"Why would this world be Earth then?" George pointed out. "Every other world has earth as well, hm?"

Tell that to the people who named all those planets in Galaxy Quest and Space Battles!

"Well, yeah, but, like... Zack's planet is Gaia," Bobby said. "Every planet has earth, sure, but we're Earth with a capital E."

"I di'nt know there was other worlds b'fore yesterday," George admitted. He still wasn't terribly sure about it to be honest. Smart money put this in being part of the Gods world.

"If it helps any, I didn't know there were other versions of Earth," Bobby supplied.
