Ben didn't have classes on Wednesdays, but he did have a weekly butt-kicking sparring session with his grandfather tomorrow and he hadn't practiced at all during his week in Archenland.

Besides, he'd promised Zack to show how a lightsaber worked. So, after slapping up a helpful "LIVE FIRE. KNOCK BEFORE ENTERING" sign on the door, he was in the salle with his lightsaber and four remotes, batting laser beams harmlessly into walls.

Not that he'd admit it, but the familiar feel of lightsaber practice was calming his rather jangled nerves.

"Fine, but next week it's my turn again," Tahiri declared.

He leaned in to kiss her. "But I'm not going to do anything worrying."

[weetuskenraider]

"Can't I worry about my boyfriend just because I care about him?" Tahiri asked perfectly innocently.

She might have been emphasizing that whole boyfriend part just because she knew he'd been worried about it.

[momslilassassin]

He smiled. "Well, put it that way and I seem kind of mean not to let you..."

[weetuskenraider]

"I can't think you're mean for not wanting me to worry," Tahiri said, and now she did lean in to kiss him.

Ben was more than happy to be kissed. "I think if we stopped worrying, we'd have no idea what to do with all of that spare time."

That's cheerful, Ben.

Well, yeah, but their galaxy . . .

"We have spare time?" Tahiri asked between kisses. "Since when?"

"It's the summer," he replied. "We're supposed to be slacking off."

[weetuskenraider]

"Does what we're doing now count as slacking off?" she asked.

[momslilassassin]

"Yes," Ben decided. "We should do more of it."

[weetuskenraider]

Tahiri chuckled softly against his lips. "I don't think I'm arguing with that."

[momslilassassin]

"Good," he said. "Because that's an argument you'd lose."

[weetuskenraider]

"Or maybe --" Tahiri nipped at his lip. "I'd let you win."

[momslilassassin]

"I wouldn't poke you in the knee," he said, shivering.

[weetuskenraider]

"Hey. That was different," she objected. And maybe nipped at his lip again.

[momslilassassin]

He shivered again. "So if I do this," he said, nipping at her earlobe, "it's not cheating?"

It had been a while since he'd done that, and Tahiri's knees almost buckled.

"It might be," she blurted out, hanging on to him.

He smiled down at her. "So doing it again--"

Oh, did she sound a little breathless? Tahiri looked up at him, slightly dazed. "Is practically required, except I might really fall over."

"And that could be really bad if someone walked in," he said, chewing on his lower lip and thinking ahead for once.

[weetuskenraider]

"Maybe just a little." Because they hadn't made out in front of her cabin last session or anything like that. "So, not in here then."

She . . . was not thinking that far ahead at the moment.

[momslilassassin]

"Or we could risk it," Ben said, showing the kind of judgment that had gotten his grandfather into a secret marriage.

[weetuskenraider]

Yes, because Tahiri was so likely to call him on that, being such a paragon of excellent judgment herself. "And risk being stepped on if people want to practice."

[momslilassassin]

Ben pondered. "Meet you at the beach?" he suggested.

Tahiri slowly started to let go of him. "Usual spot?"
