Karla put the finishing touches on the party preparation. She was glad she'd given herself extra time to set up; she'd had to do everything by hand. Even most basic Craft was beyond her, other than being able to occasionally call in or vanish small items. How the hell did landens manage? The only way she'd finished on time was because a few females ~~kept deliberately vague to keept the option open, but to avoid modding~~ had shown up and helped.

The only way she was ever drinking the suppression brew again was if it were a life-or-death situation. And depending on whose life-or-death it was, Karla might have to give some serious thought to the matter.

Still, it was done. The counters and scattered tables practically groaned with food and drink (the majority from T&C of course!): fruits, veggies, popcorn, chips, candy, various chocolates, soda, water, juice, Gatorade, wine, vodka, rum, various mixers...The furniture in the living room had been pushed aside for maximum space (it would still be a bit cramped, regardless) and the TV had been set up to play whatever movies folks brought along. Extra pillows and blankets were heaped everywhere, both to use as furniture and in case anyone forgot theirs. There were a few sets of hastily-acquired speakers for people to plug their pod-mabobs and empty3 players into for music, and a small section of the kitchen had been set aside off for experimenting with hair dye and make-up.

And in her room was a small pile of sacks and bags of various kind. All the better for stealing boxers with.

The cabin--and Karla--were about as ready as they'd ever be. Now just to wait for folks to show up.

Hinata laughed.

"I will find her," she promised, "if you forget."

"Only if I forget?" Karla asked hopefully.

Hinata just shook her head, laughing. "Go," she said, "before I fear for Yei so much that I take her back!"

"I'm going!" Karla scurried off, chuckling. Before she left, though, she asked, "Can I get you anything? Food? Drink?" Karla liked Hinata and wanted to make sure she'd have fun tonight.

"I will help myself," she assured her. "But th-thank you."

"Absolutely," Karla said. "Remind me, when you come back later to cruelly wrench Yei out of my arms, to introduce you to a few of my friends that I don't think you know."

"I would be delighted to meet more of your friends," she said, smiling even though part of her quailed. "And, yes, Yei w-will be cruelly wrenched away."

Karla gave Hinata a reassuring smile. "There are one or two girls I think you'd definitely like. Have you met Tara or Ra--Rachel?" Karla asked, stumbling over the name that Raven usually called herself. "They're both quite nice."

And shy. Which hopefully meant they wouldn't spook or overwhelm one another.

She shook her head. "I haven't," Hinata said, fighting the urge to flush at that. "Are they b-both here?"

Karla nodded and pointed them both out. "Rachel came in with my group and Tara was with the most recent group of newbies. They both come to the Magic Reserves, which is how I met them."

"I h-heard congratulations are in order--you're helping to lead them?" Hinata said hesitantly. "I'm sure if you say so that I must meet them."

Karla blushed and tried not to grin like an idiot. "Yeah," she said. "Tony had to go home for the rest of the summer, so he and Merlin were looking around for a replacement. I'd made some suggestions and stuff and they decided on me." She beamed.

"And I'm sure you'll like them. They both very nice girls."

"I will speak to at least one of them tonight," Hinata promised her. "As if you say so, they must be. And you d-deserve the honour of leading one of the reserves, I think."

"Thank you, Hinata," Karla said, truly touched. "That's incredibly kind of you to say. I do try to live up to the responsibility, though. I promise you that."

Hinata pinked slightly. "Trying is all that any of us can do."

"Though succeeding helps," Karla said with a smile. "Have you ever thought of coming to one of the Reserves meetings?" she asked. "I belong to the Magic and Support before, though I've started attending the Fighter's Reserves now that I'm a leader. Helps us coordinate."
