Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

For the second night in a row, Bobby had set up a common room with his Go-Between Guy DVDs. This time, however, he'd also ordered a bunch of Chinese food- enough to share if anyone came by. He might not be able to cook, but at least he could feed people this way. It was only fair considering the number of times he'd had others' cooking.

"I like gadgets," said Harper, nodding. "I helped my friend Justin build a robot once. Except he would make me stand all the way at the other end of the sandwich shop with headphones to see if the robot's microphone was picking up sound."

"Ahh, I see. I'm up on the fourth floor, but my BFF Alex lives on this floor and I used to stay with her sometimes when she didn't have a roommate," explained Harper. "But I've heard stories about competitions between floors and stuff."

"Really?" Jennifer said. "Like... what sort of competitions?"

"I'm not quite sure," said Harper, scrunching up her nose. "It sounded like people just claimed that their floor was better than anyone else's. Kind of like floor pride, I guess."

"Huh?"

"It smells so good, doesn't it? There's no way that Chinese food could ever be bad," said Harper, grinning.

"That's kind of... dumb," Jennifer said. "Overly competitive."

"Oh. I'm kind of from the seventies," Jen said.

Bobby gave a snort of laughter. "Sounds like what I usually get stuck doing whenever I help my friend Hank with stuff like that. I think he thinks I'm gonna end up breaking stuff by accident."

"I thought it was just kind of fun," said Harper. "Like, what does the fifth floor have that no one else does?"

"More time-travel weirdness," Bobby shook his head.

"Oh, I know I'm going to break something. I'm totes clumsy," said Harper. "But I also figured that Justin wanted me as far away as possible in case he was trying to talk to a girl."

"Sorry," Jennifer said. "I know, it's kind of weird."

Jennifer shook her head. "I guess I'm not the bragging type."

"Chinese food?" Jean peered her head into the room to see if there was anything good.

"Wow. I've never met anyone who didn't brag at least a little bit. At least, I don't think I've met anyone who didn't brag. Then again, at my old school, everyone bragged at least a little," said Harper.

"Well, I don't think I have much to brag about, usually," Jennifer said.

Wait til you get comfortable with being big and green, hon.

"Jean!" Bobby beamed at her. "Yeah-huh. I can't cook, but people keep feeding me anyway. So... this is my way of paying it forward. Or whatever."

Peyton had to admit it was the smell of chinese food that dragged her out of her room. "Hey Bobby."

Well, of course Bobby couldn't cook. If he tried, Jean would need to open a window or five. "Did you get any sweet and sour?"

"Well, there's got to be something about yourself that you're proud of. My grandma says that when you tell people about your best qualities, it's not bragging. It's self-confidence. Like how I show everyone how creative I am with my fashion designs," said Harper.

She certainly wasn't lacking for self-confidence.

Bobby shrugged. "There's three of me," he said and was suddenly struck with a strange feeling of deja-vu. "I've gotten used to it."

"Oh, okay," Jennifer said, rolling with it. "I've heard there's other me's, too."

Raven just happened to be passing through the third floor common room for some reason or another. The details weren't important, really. She paused, convincing herself she didn't have to keep hiding. "Hello," she said shyly.

"Peyton!" Bobby waved. "We've got food and good TV. Come and have some!"
