Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

For the second night in a row, Bobby had set up a common room with his Go-Between Guy DVDs. This time, however, he'd also ordered a bunch of Chinese food- enough to share if anyone came by. He might not be able to cook, but at least he could feed people this way. It was only fair considering the number of times he'd had others' cooking.

"Chinese food?" Jean peered her head into the room to see if there was anything good.

"Jean!" Bobby beamed at her. "Yeah-huh. I can't cook, but people keep feeding me anyway. So... this is my way of paying it forward. Or whatever."

Well, of course Bobby couldn't cook. If he tried, Jean would need to open a window or five. "Did you get any sweet and sour?"

Bobby was not allowed in the kitchen without supervision. It was totally a mansion rule. Never mind that they weren't actually in the mansion- any version of it- but he was assuming it carried over.

"I'm pretty sure I got some of everything," he told her.

It so, so did. Worse than Jamie, really. At least he was too young to know how.

"Great!" Jean took that as her cue to dig for that.

Bobby was silent for a few moments before piping up again: "Hey, can I ask you something?"

It took Jean those moments to work out the chopsticks, helping the food along telekinetically. "Sure, Bobby."

"So I know that like, the you and me from your reality or universe or whatever are kinda different from the you and me in mine, but um- do you think that you- the you that's not here, I mean, and the guys would mind if maybe I stayed here past the summer?" he asked, all in one breath.

"You mean--" Jean leaned closer, lowering her voice. "The team?"

Jennifer waved. "Bobby is pretty awesome," she declared.

Jean waved on back. "As long as he doesn't try to make it himself."

"Is he not a good cook?" Jennifer asked.

"Not unless you like things being burned," Jean replied.

"No, I'm not much for blackened food," Jennifer said. "I actually like my meat a little rare."

"Bobby's not allowed anywhere near the kitchen back home at least."

"Oh, you know Bobby from back home?" Jen said. "That's awesome."

"Oh! Um. I know a Bobby?"

Harper smiled at the other girl. "It looks like there's plenty of good stuff to go around."

"Thanks!" Jean grinned and clung to her horribly bland sweet and sour chicken.

That was fine with Harper, who was adding hot sauce to her Mongolian beef. "You know, I've seen you around, but I don't think I know your name," she said apologetically.

"Jean," She replied, taking a seat near the girl. "What's your name?"

"I'm Harper!" she said, grinning. "I live one floor up, but I came down to ask something and got sucked into watching TV with Bobby."

"I'm a few floors, up actually," Jean admitted. "You only just met Bobby then?"

"Yeah, he and I have a workshop together on Mondays," said Harper. "It's something about being awesome except it really hasn't been that awesome so far."

"...what?" Jean was a mind reader, but that was just strange.
