Third Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening

For the second night in a row, Bobby had set up a common room with his Go-Between Guy DVDs. This time, however, he'd also ordered a bunch of Chinese food- enough to share if anyone came by. He might not be able to cook, but at least he could feed people this way. It was only fair considering the number of times he'd had others' cooking.

[ooc: ...what can I say? I've been in a chatty mood lately.]

Valentine was making a forced retreat to the common room. She'd spent all day messing with things on her laptop, and didn't need to be spending all evening on there, too.

However, it should be noted that she still carried it under her arm. She gave a wave to the room in general before noting the really good offerings. "Mmm, Chinese."

"As another lacking in culinary gifts," Valentine said, perusing the offerings for something that would really hit the spot, "I can appreciate this approach. I will always love how, around here, there's always someone cooking or bringing something so I basically just have to scrounge and be well fed."

"Oh, sure," Valentine said, rolling her eyes slightly, "make me feel greedy and ungrateful."

The sarcasm was hopefully being supported by the fact that her comment did not seem to hold her back in grabbing a carton of noodles and vegetables and starting to dig in.

"And far be it from me," Valentine chuckled a little, "to say no to a call for help. That's much better."

"Hi Valentine," Jennifer said. "Bobby is winning the awesome boy olympics right now."

Valentine arched an eyebrow. "There's an awesome boy olympics?" she asked, debating whether or not to consider providing food to really be a determining factor of who is in the lead. Sure, it was a great step, but food did not an Olympian make.

"Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration," Jen said. "But he bought Chinese to share, which is great."

"If there was an awesome boy olympics," Valentine allowed with a grin, "he'd definitely have just stepped up to the plate as a considerable contender, but it wouldn't be that hard for someone else to reclaim the spot. Food is definitely among this place's more bountiful resources, but you're absolutely right that it's great."

Mmmm, springrolls.

"Wow, that's way more logic than I intended to put into this," Jennifer said.

"...I almost want to actually run an awesome boy olympics, now."

"It smells so good, doesn't it? There's no way that Chinese food could ever be bad," said Harper, grinning.

Oh, Harper. One should never challenge Valentine when it came to deeming something edible as never bad.

"Even if it's spoiled?" Valentine asked. "And I hear sometimes they use cat and dog and just call it chicken, because, hey, everything tastes like chicken."

[identity profile] chic-harper.livejournal.com 2009-08-06 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Spoiled food is always gross, but I usually don't see leftover Chinese food stay for that long in the fridge," countered Harper. "And I'm sure they can get away with serving dog in China, but not in the good ol' US of A. That's why we have the health department to monitor stuff like that."

Okay, Valentine had to laugh a little at that, because that was a pretty good argument. "Yeah," she allowed, "but you didn't say 'so long as it isn't spoiled and it's inspected by the United States Health Department.' You simply said that there's no way Chinese food could ever be bad, and I was just pointing out that there are a lot of ways it can be bad. Thankfully," she held up a small carton of noodles, "this doesn't seem to be among them."
