Third Floor Common Room - LUAU

Joan and Kate had worked all afternoon to transform the common room into a tropical paradise.

Inside the door, a small table held flower leis for all of the party-goers. There were garlands hanging around the room, tabletop torches on most of the flat surfaces, and paper lanterns adding festive mood lighting.

Hawaiian music played in the background if anyone felt the urge to hula.

If it had been a couple of months ago, he would've gone for her, too. "It's a name and a title," he volunteered, "Surnames aren't very widespread where I'm from."

When, Arthur. The term was 'when'.

"Oh?" Jennifer said. "Are you from another planet?" It was a fair question.

"No," Arthur said, then added, after a beat, "But sometimes it feels like it."

Jennifer thought a second, and nodded. "Different time then. Really long ago?"

"They tell me it's been about a thousand years," he said, "Give or take a few centuries."

"Wow," Jennifer said. "You seem to be adjusting really well."

That was the first time he'd ever gotten that reaction.

So you'd have to forgive Arthur for startling for a moment, despite the fact that he'd frequently thought the same. "I've done the best I can," he said, finally. "No one's served well by it if I don't. My manservant and my foster sister are also here, so it's not been a complete wash."

"...you have a manservant?" Jennifer said, way too amused.

"Merlin," he said, ignoring the amusement, or maybe making it wry, for himself.

"Merlin the Manservant," Jennifer said. "How very alliterate."

"Quite," he said, dryly. "And the Lady Morgana would be my foster sister. Not quite as alliterative."

"Oh, hey, I had a date with her earlier today," Jennifer said.

There was a moment where both the word date and the mental imagery of Jennifer/Morgana more-than-a-date passed through Arthur's fairly fratboyesque mind and left him with a funny expression.

The date part made it through in the end, though. "Morgana went on a date?"

"It was the three minute dates down at the bar," Jennifer said. "So we didn't really get very far with even getting to know each other."

"What's a three minute dates?" said Arthur, warily.

He was getting the dawning sense that he had Morgana's virtue to protect, and he doubted she would let him protect it easily.

"Where you get paired up with people, and you have three minutes to get acquainted or something," Jennifer explained. "I guess so you can tell whether or not you'd want to date them for real."

"And the Lady Morgana did that?"

His father was going to kill him. Kill him stone dead. Nevermind the sorcerors.

"...I'm sure it was enjoyable."

"It was," Jennifer said. "I mean, I got to meet Morgana, for one."

"Send her my congratulations about it if you run into her next," he said, delicately. As delicately as you could while working up a nice, internal glower. "Your other dates were fine as well?"

"Oh, yes," Jennifer said. "They were all very nice."
