roof | early evening | thursday | august 27
Alex was finding himself more attracted to the roof than the deck lately, which was a change from earlier in the summer. He couldn't really pinpoint why save for the fact that he liked smoking on the roof. Today was no different. He'd lit up as soon as he'd pushed onto the roof and was halfway done before he'd even sat down on the ledge.
Things felt slow lately, like they were moving in slow motion and it was making him itchy. He really didn't want to think of it as bad omens considering he still was trying to not think about that other Fandom but those thoughts crept in more likely than not.
He shook his head at himself and made his mind go blank. Easier to deal with.
[i'm bored and it's about to storm like hell. so, natch, this is open!]

"Sorry," Rose said, making a face but sounding sympathetic. "It doesn't mean much," she offered. "I can't do anything awesome or whatever."
She reached out to touch his shoulder, halfway there, she realised how crappy it was going to be if he jerked away, but - yeah, too late to stop now.

"I just--" His words died in his throat, body tense but still. "Jesus, Rose."

"Could be worse," she offered, going for flippancy. "I could be an elf. Who wants to be an elf?"

"I've never taken a survey," he said, voice regaining some modicum of sarcasm. "I'm sure there's someone out there."

She wanted to say something to make the other thing better, and so little was presenting itself.

"So yeah," she said, trying for lightness. "Now you know my life story."
