Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Sookie was sort of surprised by the very sticky rain, and that in and of itself was a mark of how long she'd been there.

And after a day spent indoors reading, she decided to do something smart about the rain. And so she wandered out to her common room, found it empty, and took to carefully positioning some buckets to hang out the windows.

Sookie, meanwhile, set to work mixing up some pancake batter. And, of course, frying up some bacon and eggs. It wasn't really breakfast-for-supper unless you had all the components.

"That's the plan," Turtle said, smiling over at Rose and giving her a little wave back. Her body was in total Not-Going-to-Radio mode, so she was just going to stay comfortably where she was. "Hopefully. But I have faith in the system that the best person will win. I just have confidence that that best person is me! Don't suppose I can depend on you for a vote, could I, Rose?"

"Well when you put it that way, how can I say no?" Rose said, continuing to be amused at Turtle's bid. "How about this. If I remember to vote? Totally I'll vote for you."

Remembering to vote was the problem there, yes.

"Remember to vote?" Turtle asked, looking incredulous but laughing. "How could you forget? Those posters everywhere. But how about this? I'll give you a call and remind you."

She really wanted votes, okay? Jean was totally prettier than her; she had to get everything she could on charm, experience, and persistence alone.

Yeah, but Jean was disturbingly nice. Turtle, at least, had an edge Rose appreciated. ...besides Sam was hotter than both of them.

"Sounds like a deal," Rose said, giving Turtle a tiny salute. "How's everything besides the election?"

Turtle might have had to take Rose's word for it that Sam was hot. She avoided actually getting good looks at Sam because she liked her neck to not hurt from having to look up that high.

But, for now, Turtle blinked owlishly at Rose.

"There are things besides the election?"

Of course she was joking. She had her hands into too much stuff to not be joking, if you got technical about it.

Hey, Rose's crush was a foot and a half taller than her. She was so used to that annoying giant thing.

"There's syrup rain outside," she pointed out.

Turtle grinned a little and wave a hand. "Psh," she said. "Old hat. I swear, there's had to be at least one time when it rained chocolate. Now there's something I can get excited about...."

But she trailed off a little and added, after a moment, "But that syrup out there is really freakin' tasty, too."

"It's less tasty after you've washed it out of your hair twice," Rose said, making a face. "Chocolate's at least solid."

"Not in chocolate sauce form," Turtle pointed out. "And that's why you stay inside or have an umbrella."

"Umbrellas they sell at Turtle and Canary?" Rose teased.

"Well," Turtle shrugged, "only if you like quality and a good deal."

"Nah, I like the cheap shit," she said.

"And that's the beauty of it," Turtle said, with a snort. "We've got some of those, too."
