Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Sookie was sort of surprised by the very sticky rain, and that in and of itself was a mark of how long she'd been there.

And after a day spent indoors reading, she decided to do something smart about the rain. And so she wandered out to her common room, found it empty, and took to carefully positioning some buckets to hang out the windows.

Sookie, meanwhile, set to work mixing up some pancake batter. And, of course, frying up some bacon and eggs. It wasn't really breakfast-for-supper unless you had all the components.

She'd been way too busy playing with her new iPhone and ripping all her CDs to her computer. "I take it you don't mean the general concept."

"Totally," Rose deadpanned. "I'm surprised you're familiar with electricity so radio's a big step."

"Oh, yeah, isn't it that lightning stuff?" Kennedy could so play along. "You mean they got it to do something more than just fry crazy guys flying kites in storms?"

"No, no, it still fries the guys in the storm," Rose said. "They just got 'em to transmit the electricity while they're at it so the lights go on."

Kennedy raised an imaginary drink. "Well, here's to those stupid guys and their noble sacrifice so the rest of us can keep Amazon in business. But back up, what do squirrels have to do with radio? Run in hamster wheels to power the transmitter?"

"Yeah, the squirrels? They take notes for a radio broadcast every night," she explained. "I guess they write 'em down and everything for the broadcasters. Also, I guess they drink rum?"

"All right, now I know you're screwing with me. Squirrels taking notes? They don't even have opposable thumbs!"

Kennedy. Don't disparage the squirrels.

Rose shrugged. "That's what I hear. Unless all the radio people are in on a big joke which - would be totally, totally awesome of them."

"That'd be pretty funny," Kennedy agreed. "So what are they taking notes on exactly?"

"Everything," Rose said, making a face. "Like who's doing what and who they're with and who's fighting and who's having sex and - yeah, it's kinda insane."
