Fifth Floor Common Room [evening]

Sookie was sort of surprised by the very sticky rain, and that in and of itself was a mark of how long she'd been there.

And after a day spent indoors reading, she decided to do something smart about the rain. And so she wandered out to her common room, found it empty, and took to carefully positioning some buckets to hang out the windows.

Sookie, meanwhile, set to work mixing up some pancake batter. And, of course, frying up some bacon and eggs. It wasn't really breakfast-for-supper unless you had all the components.

"And now there's bacon to ruin all that hard work," Sookie teased.

"I deserve the reward," Kennedy retorted with a grin. "I'll make up for it this weekend. You like to cook?"

Asked the girl who barely remembered what the kitchen looked like, because it was in a different wing of the house.

"Mmm-hmm. And I'm Southern," like maybe Kennedy hadn't noticed, "so I've got it ingrained that I've got to cook like I'm expecting an army. It's fun!"

Kind of hard not to notice. Kennedy was a little bit of a sucker for accents. "Around here, there's probably a good chance of that," she pointed out. She should visit other people's floors more often, if there was free food. Obviously.

"Case in point," Sookie said, gesturing to the assembled group. "And if all else fails, my brother and Bobby will always eat whatever I make, even if no one else wants any. Gotta love teenage boys' appetites."

"Boys aren't the only ones who can eat like that," and to prove her point she swiped another piece of bacon. "But they have to be useful for osmething at least, right?"

She smirked lightly. "Heavy lifting, opening jars, taking food off my hands," Sookie agreed. "That's about it."

Yeah. She might be taking that the wrong way, a little bit. "Hey. If it gives them something to do, it's all good."

"Sookie Stackhouse: Keeping boys out of trouble with harmless tasks since 1982," she said proudly. "I'm not getting much other use from 'em, so I'm glad to do my part."

Yep, completely unaware of any wrong-way-taking. Oops.
