The Roof: Saturday Evening

Happy-shiny-upbeat music was rolling off the roof this morning and down through the dorms. Layla had taken the time to string up some old Christmas lights that she had ~~handwavily~~ found at Things Reborn.

Food and drink ~~Moddable of course~~ was spread out on a table.

And of course the entire roof was already decorated in flowers, glitter and streamers.

Layla was already out in the middle of the roof bouncing around to the music and having a grand old time of it.

Clearly the island felt there was need for a party. Layla was just rolling around with it.

[Open to all of course. No OCD. Let the world end dammit.]

"I have Eggos and a toaster," Layla smirked. "Anything more than that he'll have to get on his own."

"You're - really prepared," Rose commented.

She chuckled at that.

"Have we met? I'm Layla Miller. I know stuff."

"I'm Rose Hathaway," she replied. "I - well, usually I don't."

"Well what else would a Dhampir have to know but keep her Moroi safe at all costs?" Layla asked cheerfully.

She narrowed her eyes. "Have you been talking to Dimitri?" Cue looking around like the 6'7" guardian might be lurking.

"No," Layla said with a small smirk. "I haven't met him yet."

"Well, aren't you a little short for a Moroi?" she asked, eyeing Layla.

"No," Layla replied. "I told you. I know stuff. Like how you and Lissa were running around on your own before you were forced to come here."

"I'm not sure if you're creepy or not," Rose told her frankly. "How do you know all this?"

"It's okay, I'm a little creepy," She said with a smirk. "And I know stuff because that's what I do. Just like you protect the Moroi. We all have our duties and responsibilities."

"Knowing stuff is a responsibility?" She asked curiously. It didn't sound the same at all.

And she was pretty sure Lissa would get a kick out of this Layla unless she freaked her out first by talking about spirit.

"It's a responsibility for me," Layla replied with a shrug. "You know. Great power. Responsibility. Yadda. Yadda. Yadda."

"Sounds like something from Space Battles," she said lightly.

"Or that movie with the guy and the radioactive insect," Layla said with a shrug. "It's a common theme."

"Maybe cause it's true," Rose said, thinking of Dimitri for a moment. "Look at the Jedi."

"Which one?" Layla asked. "They all go back and forth so much it's hard to tell."

"Back and forth to their home?" She asked, confused. "Like, I meant Zayne."

"Zayne is... marginal at best," Layla replied thoughtfully. "But he yeah that's probably about right.'

"With the great power thing or that back and forth you're talking about?"

Rose had so lost the thread of the conversation.

"Yes," Layla replied. "Though not exactly. I'd be more clear but then it would muddle things down the road for several Jedi. So I'm being obtuse."

"Well, as long as you're deliberate about it," Rose laughed.

"Thank you for understanding," Layla grinned. "I'll do the same for you when the time comes."

Rose shot her a quick glance, obviously slightly disturbed at that. "That sounds ominous."

"Would you prefer I talk about your world and everything that goes along with to a perfect stranger?" Layla asked innocently.
