The Roof: Saturday Evening

Happy-shiny-upbeat music was rolling off the roof this morning and down through the dorms. Layla had taken the time to string up some old Christmas lights that she had handwavily found at Things Reborn.

Food and drink Moddable of course was spread out on a table.

And of course the entire roof was already decorated in flowers, glitter and streamers.

Layla was already out in the middle of the roof bouncing around to the music and having a grand old time of it.

Clearly the island felt there was need for a party. Layla was just rolling around with it.

"It depends on your definition of royal," Emma mused. "Descended from royalty? Hardly. But New York tends to make its own kings and queens." And Emma firmly intended to be one of them.

She tilted her head at the other girl thoughtfully. "You were in that insane etiquette class with me last semester, weren't you?" she asked. "Although I don't think we've formally been introduced. Frost, Emma Frost, at your service."

"Rose Hathaway," Rose said. "And yep, crazy class expat. I still wanna know what kind of drug the teacher is on."

"The day we find out, the world might end," Emma intoned seriously. "Better question; do we know what PMS drug our ethics teacher is on? Because he needs to up his dosage. If we've got fifteen weeks of that to look forward to, I may scream."

"He's insanely intense," Rose said. It kinda made her like him, the dork. "He was just like it in Flight. Only with more 'I am the bestest best pilot ever to be the best.'"

"There was a flight class?" Emma looked put-out. "I want to learn how to fly."

"It was really cool," Rose said, aware she was being a dork. "Half the stuff in the flight simulator were space ships and fighters and stuff. Maybe next summer?"
