The Roof: Saturday Evening

Happy-shiny-upbeat music was rolling off the roof this morning and down through the dorms. Layla had taken the time to string up some old Christmas lights that she had handwavily found at Things Reborn.

Food and drink Moddable of course was spread out on a table.

And of course the entire roof was already decorated in flowers, glitter and streamers.

Layla was already out in the middle of the roof bouncing around to the music and having a grand old time of it.

Clearly the island felt there was need for a party. Layla was just rolling around with it.

[Open to all of course. No OCD. Let the world end dammit.]

"Tell it to bring the food next time, too, or else we're not interested?" Valentine suggested.

"Well it rained syrup yesterday," Layla snickered. "Isn't that enough?"

Valentine shook her head. "Call me uptight, but unless it's on waffles or toast or something, syrup has to try pretty hard to be food."

"I have Eggos," Layla pointed out. "Maybe the island felt that was enough."

"But the whole point was that the island is providing the food, too, not providing us with whatever might enhance what we already have."

"Oh, hell, are we going to debate all night or have a little fun?" Layla asked. "You up for a mocktail?"

Aw, but Valentine liked debates...

"Mocktail," she repeated. "Cute. Sure, why not?"

"Shirley Temple?" Layla replied. "I have a thing for the extra cherries."

Valentine held up her hands. "I shall defer to she who knows better than I would," she said, chuckling a bit.

"My pleasure," Layla replied as she prepared the drink. "Of course if you want to get the drink spiked, I'm sure Emma can help you out with that."

Valentine snorted. "I'm sure she could. I don't actually think I have a preference either way, though."

"Unlike a lot of the kids here who are all happy to hear that Caritas doesn't card," Layla commented.

"Kids who are all happy to let their cognizant stability slip, too," Valentine countered with a shrug. She found the idea of losing your control a little less appealing.

"Sometimes it's good for a few people to let their stability slip," Layla replied. "A little Chaos now and then can sometimes bring about a moment of Zen."

"As if the world didn't come with its own chaos," Valentine said with a grin. "If you're so supportive of it, you should spike half the mocktails and see what happens from there."

"It just end up with everyone having drunken sex, with each other," Layla joked as she handed Valentine her drink. "And then there would be a lifetime movie about it. And there would be 90% chance I'd be played by Tori Spelling. So... Ew. No."

"I...don't actually think I know what you're talking about in that last half of your statement," Valentine admitted, "but somehow I get the feeling that that's probably for the best."

"I'll have you watch her reality show some time," Layla replied. "Then you'll completely understand."
