The Roof: Saturday Evening

Happy-shiny-upbeat music was rolling off the roof this morning and down through the dorms. Layla had taken the time to string up some old Christmas lights that she had handwavily found at Things Reborn.

Food and drink Moddable of course was spread out on a table.

And of course the entire roof was already decorated in flowers, glitter and streamers.

Layla was already out in the middle of the roof bouncing around to the music and having a grand old time of it.

Clearly the island felt there was need for a party. Layla was just rolling around with it.

[Open to all of course. No OCD. Let the world end dammit.]

"What? It's good," Layla protested. "You should make one for yourself."

"I'm more of a turkey guy, myself."

"Try a bite," Layla said with a grin. "I know you'll like it."

Or she might be trying to kill him and get his parking space.

"Yeah, how 'bout I just kinda take your word on that and not?"

"Wimp," Layla said with a roll of her eyes.

Priestly snorted. "Some of us prefer subtler flavors."

"Don't make me start clucking at you."

"You can cluck all you like. I'm gonna make me a turkey sub with cranberries."

"Yum," Layla replied. "Too bad I don't have gravy and stuffing up here. I'll have one of those sandwiches too. Please."

Priestly saluted. So she did have taste.

He passed on the first sandwich and quickly set about making two of the turkey-cranberry combos.

"So, I guess this is our 'here's to a new school year' bash?"

Layla shrugged as she swallowed her first bite of sandwich. "Maybe. Really there was decorations everywhere. I just thought food and music should be included."

"And clearly, you know what you're talking about. Well, maybe not the pickles/sardines/baloney stuff, but we all have our off moments. . . ."

"Hey, I have a strange palate. There's nothing truly weird about that in a place like this!"

"Except for you," Priestly teased. "That makes you special!"

"I am special," she said with a hair toss that seemed... almost sarcastic. "But that's because I'm just me."

"As good a reason as any," Priestly acknowledged.

"Just like me doing anything to get your parking space," Layla said taking another bite of her sandwich. "And sooner or later? That day will come."

Priestly shook his head. "Dude, I'm looking forward to seeing this magical parking space I'm apparently going to get."

"You won't get it. It's mine," she growled.

"But I have to have it at least a little while or it won't ever be my parking space and that would, like, invalidate your whole 'I want your parking space' thing."

"Hey, I have it all worked out in my head. Don't try and mess it up."

"Considering the fact that your plan apparently involves me being dead, I think I'll mess it up all I want."

"Well you could just give it to me willingly," Layla pointed out.

"See, now it's a matter of pride."

"Then that's the way it has to be," Layla said grimly.
