the roof - monday midday - 9/14
Fiona didn't often come up here. For one, despite an uneven temperament, she wasn't much for 'emo'ing. For another, she was usually reasonably comfortable in her room. But today, she'd come up to the roof with her phone and a couple of books and had decided to make a time of it. The wind was actually sort of refreshing and there was something to being up here, sitting in the sun, that fit her mood for the day.
Which, her being her, was thoughtful for the moment.
Her call to Eliot went well, her call home went quickly, her call to her Uncle Henry involved a few soft laughs, her call to her Aunt Dallas was aborted quickly if only to save her from going pink, and her call to her Uncle Aaron was about the same as the last one with one small addition.
"You have other abilities, Fiona. Learn them, get comfortable with them, know their limits, or they'll be used against you someday."
...which was the most relaxing thing ever, of course.
Dad was a little better, but he kept asking about Griff and how she felt about him which was just weird and nothing she wanted to talk about with her dad. When he asked what his parents did and what his prospects for the future were, she gave him a quick goodbye, claimed she had to go (which wasn't strictly a lie, since she was reasonably sure she'd die of mortification soon enough) and closed the phone. Wuhf.
The books weren't nearly so stressful but she was almost hoping someone would come up and provide a little company.

and not Fiona's mom, omg. She emerged onto the roof and leaned over the edge, so far that it might almost look risky.Tossing "Good morning," over her shoulder, she went back to studying ... whatever she was studying.

"The wind's come up a few times. You should be careful over there."

"Most people come up here to smoke. Um. Fiona, by the way."
Wait, she'd forgotten one part.
"That's my name, I mean. Since I haven't met you before."

As much as she'd enjoyed talking with the other girl, Karla also understood the enjoyment of a few moments of quiet, communing with the wind.

"I didn't know you smoked." He'd learn soon enough that this wasn't just a smoking roof. Maybe he'd learn.

"I have. I do, sometimes." When she got in an odd mood. It wasn't something she did regularly, though. The complete lack of an ability to be addicted was helpful there.
"I'm not at the moment, though. I'm just up here to be up here."
no subject
"How boring," he added, glancing at her again.

Though Emma had been generous in his praise.
"Kiss kiss," she said, smiling a bit. "You look a bit under the weather. Rough night?"

She waved at everyone, before staring out over the edge of the roof. She'd gotten her butt kicked last night. Did this mean Azula wasn't going to like her anymore?

Though, really, the roof's purpose would have been better served had she come up two weeks ago, when she'd been all angsting and emo. As of now, she was in a fairly good mood. It was nice not to have classes on Mondays.

She focused on Hayley's lip. "Fought with Jon last night, didn't you," she asked, remembering their conversation during Fight Club. "I can Heal that, if you'd like."
