Karla looked around and nodded in satisfaction. There was a big glittery banner that said "CONGRATULATIONS TAHIRI!" hung over one wall. She wasn't going to admit it, but playing the glue and glitter and paint had been a lot of fun. Though, with the residual glitter in her hair (and the occasional glittery hand print on the banner), someone might be able to tell.

There was one table completely devoted to ice cream (and wrapped in cold spells). The centerpiece was, of course, a giant ice cream cake with a frosted lightsaber on it. Karla couldn't make any guesses about how accurate it was, but there was a greyish hilt and a ~~I was tempted to say red~~ blue beam coming from the front. It was enough to get the point across, dammit. She'd had to explain to the Chilly Boulder guy what she meant by lightsaber anyway. Though he immediately knew who Ben and Tahiri were. The table wasn't entirely covered by ice cream, as Dinah had mentioned bringing some, too.

It's possible that there may be an ice cream shortage at Chilly Boulder tonight. Sorry.

In the kitchen, there was even more food; this time covered in warming spells. Mostly there were pizzas with a variety of toppings, but she'd also gotten some sides from most of the other restaurants in town. Someone wanted to have pizza with a side of lobster bisque and quesadillas? Totally not a problem. There were also a variety of drinks and, stashed away in the fridge, a few steaks and a chicken--raw, of course--for Blind Seer.

As far as she could tell, everything was done. And if not...well, they could cope. Now the only thing to do was wait for the guests to arrive.

...and try not to cut into the cake before they arrived. It did look good.

Um yes. "She's so little!" Ignore that Mirax was taller than her.

Tahiri, being shorter than Jaina, had had about the same reaction and so was totally ignoring that detail. "I think she's almost the same age as Valin is now!"

She still had no idea why listening to that broadcast had left her with the vague impulse to go steal a speeder.

Meanwhile Jaina had been wanting to come up with covert plans for some reason. Weird, right?

"There's a part of me that's very tempted to send that broadcast to Corran," she said.

So very, very weird.

Tahiri completely burst out laughing. "I would want to see his face if you did."

"Maybe I can work something out," Jaina mused. "Because I'd want to see his face too." Which at the moment didn't happen much.

And now Jaina was getting a weird look from Tahiri. "By the way, you're not allowed to pretend some random girl is me."

A weird look underscored by a barely restrained laugh, granted.

"Yeah, that wasn't going to happen for more than two seconds," Jaina told her with a snort. "You notice how fast I took that back?"

"Yes. Which I appreciate," Tahiri told her, smirking. "I'm much more fun than that, thanks."

"Lint is much more fun than that," she pointed out.

"Which clearly means there's hope for you yet."

Wow. When had she gotten this comfortable about teasing Jaina?

Jaina's jaw dropped in mostly feigned shock. "You think just because it's your party you can say anything, huh?" But hey, she was teasing back, so.

"Uh huh. Because it's my name spelled out in glitter up there," Tahiri pointed out, and then took a moment to boggle over the teasing. She wasn't actually sure which side of it was weirder.

Jaina paused. "You got your name spelled out in glitter."

She didn't know why that was suddenly weird. Maybe because Tahiri was probably the first Jedi in history to have that.

Of all the claims to fame.

It could be a lot worse, just saying.

"It took me a few minutes to get over that," she admitted.
