Karla looked around and nodded in satisfaction. There was a big glittery banner that said "CONGRATULATIONS TAHIRI!" hung over one wall. She wasn't going to admit it, but playing the glue and glitter and paint had been a lot of fun. Though, with the residual glitter in her hair (and the occasional glittery hand print on the banner), someone might be able to tell.

There was one table completely devoted to ice cream (and wrapped in cold spells). The centerpiece was, of course, a giant ice cream cake with a frosted lightsaber on it. Karla couldn't make any guesses about how accurate it was, but there was a greyish hilt and a ~~I was tempted to say red~~ blue beam coming from the front. It was enough to get the point across, dammit. She'd had to explain to the Chilly Boulder guy what she meant by lightsaber anyway. Though he immediately knew who Ben and Tahiri were. The table wasn't entirely covered by ice cream, as Dinah had mentioned bringing some, too.

It's possible that there may be an ice cream shortage at Chilly Boulder tonight. Sorry.

In the kitchen, there was even more food; this time covered in warming spells. Mostly there were pizzas with a variety of toppings, but she'd also gotten some sides from most of the other restaurants in town. Someone wanted to have pizza with a side of lobster bisque and quesadillas? Totally not a problem. There were also a variety of drinks and, stashed away in the fridge, a few steaks and a chicken--raw, of course--for Blind Seer.

As far as she could tell, everything was done. And if not...well, they could cope. Now the only thing to do was wait for the guests to arrive.

...and try not to cut into the cake before they arrived. It did look good.

"This is why I only wear jumpsuits or Jedi uniforms," he said. "I've never spent a moment of my life wondering if something would look good on me."

Tahiri laughed. "You looked pretty good in that suit at the dance, I remember. And it's not like I wear anything else either." Except those Tusken robes. And she wasn't talking about those because ew.

Ben laughed. "Does that make us horribly boring?"

"No," Tahiri decided, "it makes us too busy with other things to worry about fashion."

"And the cloaks are totally astral anyway," Ben said. "Even if I can't make it flare out like Granddad does."

"You'll develop your own style," Tahiri assured him. "Maybe even fancier than Master Durron, too."

Ben snickered. "Do I really want to be fancier than Master Durron?"

"Okay, nobody needs to be that fancy." Tahiri nudged him. "Bet you could if you wanted, though."

"I think I'd need some kind of headwear," he teased.

"There's always Leto's stepmother's shop for that," she replied, smirking. "In case you weren't feeling tall enough."

"Maybe we could get you one too," Ben said. "It's your special day, after all. I think new Ice Cream Knights need stupid hats."

She blushed a little, but gave him an amused look. "There's ice cream and a ballpit. There might as well be hats."

"I'd complain to the organizer, but I think Karla hits," Ben said.

"And since it's my party, I say the rules include you being uninjured." Tahiri glanced at the decorations, then back at the cake, and the table full of ice cream. "This is just amazing."

"You more than deserve it," Ben said quietly.

Tahiri turned to look at him, her expression serious for several moments before she smiled. "You really believe that."

"I don't generally say things I don't mean," he said.

"I know." Tahiri leaned gently into him. "I think I know you well enough by now to know that. And I still think you deserve one too."

Ben wrapped one arm around her waist. "And I think I don't, but I'm glad you're having fun at this one."

"How could I not?" Tahiri asked, looking up at him. (And up. It seemed like he just kept growing.) "My friends are here, it's been a good day . . . I'm not going out of my way to find anything wrong here."

"Good," he said, dropping a kiss onto her nose. "I like it when you're happy."

Tahiri shut her eyes before they crossed, and laughed. "You mean you can't tell?"

"Of course I can," Ben said, "but I don't like to creep people out by Jedi-ing at them."

"I guess that might creep them out," Tahiri agreed, "but if you think I'm going to be weirded out by it, you . . . obviously haven't had enough ice cream yet this week."

"Ice cream deprivation leads to delusions?" Ben teased, laughing.
