As Mat had mentioned a few times, Mat couldn't cook with modern technology. But roasting things over a fire?

That, he could do.

So there he was, bundled in a few layers, roasting a few rabbits over the fire and feeling more homesick than he was willing to admit.

"It's r--" new girl was holding a bunny. RIGHT THEN. "It's roast meat," Roy went for instead.

Francine gave new guy a smile. "Well yeah, I can tell that."

Roy smiled back at her. "You can never tell. Some people might not have meat where they come from."

"...True." Francine shook her head and bundled bunny!Chewie up a little better. "But I'm from Texas. I think vegetarianism might actually be against the law. Unless you're a bunny."

In which case they might eat you in Texas...or the common room. Er. "Well, sure, Texas," Roy said. "Good barbecue."

"There is that," Francine agreed. "I'm pretty sure nobody's roasting a cow over that fire, though."

Roy thought about it for a moment, then said, "You'd have to break it down into parts."

"And have a cow in the first place. Also it would have to smell like beef."

"Instead of--whatever that is," Roy said. "I could really go for a steak right now."
