As Mat had mentioned a few times, Mat couldn't cook with modern technology. But roasting things over a fire?

So there he was, bundled in a few layers, roasting a few rabbits over the fire and feeling more homesick than he was willing to admit.

"You've got those, too?" Leia said. "Timeline issues, I mean, not cookies. But we should have cookies, I agree."

"Oh yeah," Bobby gave a short little laugh. "A couple of my best friends are here, only they're from realities that don't quite match up with mine. Another friend's kid is an adult here who works in town. And one of the teachers and a couple of the students know me as a grownup."

"And here I thought it was strange that my daughter from the future is older than me and my not-dead father teaches Ethics," Leia laughed. "It's good to know I'm not alone."

"See? We totally deserve cookies. Though I'm saying right now I can't bake, so they'll probably be store-bought cookies. Unless you can bake."

Leia shook her head. "I've never tried to cook," she said. "It doesn't seem that hard, though."

"I don't know," Bobby said. "I've witnessed Jaina try to cook before. Though I suppose she might've got that from her dad's side of the family."

"That bad, huh?" Leia laughed.

"Not as bad as me, apparently she can make pasta," Bobby allowed. "But the eggs were not a success."
