Sixth Floor Common Room, Wednesday Evening [WARREN'S BIRTHDAY PARTY!]

Through some miracle of timing, Bobby had actually managed to get everything for Warren's party set up earlier before heading off to Karla's.

Now, though, it was Warren's turn. Hopefully people would still have room for even more food after a BBQ, because the amount of food two brilliant bakers plus one person with access to a very good catering service was impressive.

At least people could work all those excess calories off in the ball pit?

"Did you at least bring me back something nice from New York?" he asked, still pouting.

"Not this time, but I will next time," she promised, giving him her best ingenue-pout as she reached up to pat his cheek. "You're not feeling neglected, are you, darling?"

"Terribly," he said and frowned some more. "My favorite telepath wasn't around to give me attention. I had to go elsewhere to find it."

Well, not really.

"I'm sure you had all the attention you could possibly want this weekend," she disagreed. "Although it was from small children wanting to play, instead of your favorite telepath."

"Yeah, that felt a little too familiar for my comfort." And she'd be the one to know why. "I managed all right. Most of them just wanted food and to jump on someone. I threw Rose in a lake."

"Rose tried to get Jack to toss her in too, from what I hear," she agreed, nodding. "How...sweet. That you were able to oblige her."

"She asked me to," he pointed out hastily. "I didn't just do it because I'm a jerk. She wanted to and I made sure she didn't drown. I was nice to the kids, you can ask around. Next time they end up small, it's your turn."

"I bet you were adorable with them," she snickered, eyes crinkled with amusement. "I'm sad I missed it."

"Don't be a softie, Emma," Alex said, making a face. "I'm not adorable."

"Don't be a grump, Alex," Emma laughed. "Don't worry, I'm sure it was just the cuteness of the children rubbing off on you as temporary cooties."

"You're really on about me being cute and adorable tonight, aren't you?" Alex wondered, shaking his head. "Where did this come from? You drink some of the good stuff?"

"Yes, I spiked my drink at Karla's party," Emma answered, giving him a bright smile. "No, I'm not drunk. Can't a girl enjoy teasing you?"

"I suppose I can make exceptions for you, darling," he said, drawing out the word playfully. "Though, I would have been bitching if you'd spiked your drink and hadn't shared."

"Mmmm...but I didn't share," she pointed out. "So am I going to get bitched at?"

"You didn't share?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "Well, fuck you. We're no longer friends."

See, there was her bitching.

"You didn't ask, and I ran out," she replied, sticking out her tongue. "Next time, ask."
