Through some miracle of timing, Bobby had actually managed to get everything for Warren's party set up earlier before heading off to Karla's.

Now, though, it was Warren's turn. Hopefully people would still have room for even more food after a BBQ, because the amount of food two brilliant bakers plus one person with access to a very good catering service was impressive.

At least people could work all those excess calories off in the ball pit?

No, that would've required him saying he'd watched her sleep, and she wouldn't have found that creepy coming from him. But she felt like saying it anyway.

"I might still be weirded out."

"If you find yourself having trouble sleeping," he said, stepping a little closer to her and pushing the napkin into her hand, "come knock on my door. I'll help you."

Bod's handwriting was neat and precise on the napkin so it'd make the message of I missed you. And whenever I thought of you while you were gone, it was almost always something simple like laying with you or getting stuffed animals thrown at me. I'm still here. rather easy to read.

Of course, he kept his hand in hers for a little big longer than necessary, obstructing her ability to read it for just a few seconds more.

Since he'd teased her, she was going to make a point of not reading the napkin straight after getting it. Just because she could.

"I guess if you need help sleeping, you'll see," he said and let her hand go while stepping back. He glanced down at the napkin before looking back at her. "Enjoy the rest of the party, Kate."

With one last, brief smile, he wandered back into the crowd.

...Totally unfolding the napkin the very second his back was turned. And then reading, and smiling and biting on her lip before stuffing the napkin into her pocket.
