Magic/Support Reserves Meeting, The Preserve, Wednesday Afternoon
Raven was just a little nervous to start the reserves meeting. She'd gotten more used to speaking up in class, but talking in front of a group of people who were all looking at her was a different story. A gentle nudge from Karla had been necessary to get her to step forward and begin to speak.
"Many of us here -- not all, I know -- prefer to avoid the fighting for our own reasons," Raven said. "For instance, I am a pacifist, and as an empath, the emotions that arise during combat are often very uncomfortable for me. I will deal with such things when I must heal someone, but I do not belong in the front lines of combat.
"But for those who are engaged in a fight, whether magically or physically, it is best not to do so blindly. When something invades Fandom, we must find out everything about it so that we know how to best repel the attack, and that is where we can provide much needed support. Some of us have abilities to use various forms of divination, be it tarot cards or crystal balls or prophetic dreams. Others are skilled with a computer or are more at home with books, and may have access to information that the rest of us do not.
"Today we would like to talk about what abilities, either magical or mundane, each of us have for researching threats to Fandom. For instance, I sometimes have prophetic dreams of the future, but I know very little about computers. I am just beginning to learn to use one." Just wait 'til she found Rumor Gal fanfic.

She was paying attention, though, and keeping an eye out for anyone who seemed to take to the job pretty well, as well as anyone who tended to lean toward Raven's pacifist approach. Had to know who not to try and drag along when fighting went down, after all, and who to go to when the geek stuff needed to get done.
She... might have been formulating ideas about streamlining the phone tree. Oh, God, that was practically organizational. Maybe she took after her dad a little more than she'd thought.

She stayed on the edge of the meeting and listened to what others were saying.

Mostly because he was promised cupcakes. But the vibe of this group unnerved him. It was a little... survivalist, for his tastes.

... Of course, he was here for the meeting itself, but he was a growing teenager, here.

lurkedhung toward the edges of the group, mostly watching how they all worked.A defensive group. That could certainly prove to be interesting. As were the 'treats', which he manfully took bites of, ignoring the chemical taste that was in everything.

He held up a finger, indicating that he was going to need a moment, and then went rummaging through his pocket, pulling out a small blue materia sphere a moment later.
"This lets me cast a spell called Libra... Which lets me see how much fight an opponent has left in him. There's another similar materia like it back home called Sense, which could, if I got my hands on it, tell me what the enemy's weaknesses are, too. Maybe I'll pick one of them up, next time I'm back on my world. You never know when you can make use of something like that."
They sold it in Kalm! And Upper Junon! It wasn't like it was a rare commodity or anything.
